Hello,
I've heard of a prototype Kiev 4TTL, which unfortunetely never was released.
But I was unable to find any photo on the net.
Is there anybody who's got pictures of this camera on is computer?
ty very much

I've seen pics of the FED TTL, but never a Kiev one, does it resemble a regular Kiev 4 for the most part?

Sorta, more like th Kiev 5 actually if I am remembering correctly, with a window like that on the Canon 7.

Yep, they did make an interesting prototype or two :) Here's some things I picked up along the way to show how the folks in Kiev were trying to advance their camera. Pity they weren't able to, but that's life.

Pretty much that's about all the information that's available about it.

I wonder how useful a selenium meter on a retractable arm would have been in practice. It would have had to be really small, meaning little low light sensitivity, and quite slow, so there would have been little advantage over the existing Kiev meter.

TTL metering really only makes sense with CdS or SB cells.

Well, the thing has 1:1 finder and is not ugly as Kiev-5. And cells/electronics can be replaced relatively painlessly to anything modern, as long as mechanical coupling is there.

gosh it was a magnificiant camera... with bright frame and all... isn't it a frame selector that we see under the vf?
And do you think a modern kiev could be made (if they had kept the production facilities of course)? I mean a Kiev with :
-advance lever and rewind crank
-an"user-friendly" speed dial
-THE kiev shutter (with an extra 2000th)
- modern ttl mettering
-a flip back
and the kiev body, design and feeling...

'62 was when Japanese SLRs had no meters?

best camera ever...

It was the year the Photomic prism was introduced, but it was no TTL... the Photomic T was produced from 1965!
nzeeman - We could nearly hear Pigglet saying "best camera ever" in a miserable voice.

Why the hell didn't they produce it? Had the Kiev had to remain that wonderful prewar camera to the end??
