Hello all,
Have a really nice J-9 lens in contax/kiev bayonet (rangenfinder) mount. Do you know if there exists an adapter that would allow me to fit it to m42 mount?
Thanks!
Hans
No. No chance. The register and the focusing mechanisms are completely different.
You could buy a non-focusing Contax-M39 adapter and a M39-M42 step-up ring and use it as a macro lens for closeup photography. Or you could buy an M42 J-9 for less money.

but for the price you'd pay for an adapter (if it had existed) you can buy a very nice m42 J9, which is cheaper and more reliable than rf J9's.

Yeah, I've seen m42 J-9's going for about half of what Contax mount J-9's go for; I got a good deal on mine, a 28mm, 35-105mm macro, and J-9 (all m42) for $50+s&h.
