View Full Version : DC area film processing
1st post here so be gentle. My question is where in the Washington DC area can I get my film developed? I usually use XP2 and just take it to Sams, but Ive recently tried PanF and hesitate to take it to the usual haunt, (Penn Camera) due to previous bad experiences. I dont have the time to do this myself. Some place that takes pride in what they do vs quanity of business, and if I could get a decent hi-res CD as well even better.
Thanks
PS: I tried to search the previous threads 1st, but the fuunction wasnt working. Then again it might be me having 1st post issues....

You have two excellent choices -
Black and White - owned by Gary and Kit Putnam in Arlington - just up the road from Rosslyn. 1916 Wilson Blvd, 2nd Floor, Arlington, 703-525-1922
Exceptional B&W only lab. They have been in business for quite a while and are known for their processing and fine printing. Good people.
Chrome in Georgetown.
Chrome, 3247 Q Street, NW, DC - just off of Wisconsin Avenue. Full Service lab - B&W, Color, everything.
For E-6 processing
Chrome or Capital Color - also at 1916 Wilson Blvd in Arlington. 703-528-3873.
Capital Color is one of the finest E-6 labs on the East Coast. One man shop (use to be three) - Open four-days a week (-Monday-Thursday) - Run by Mike Langford, the owner who has thirty years in the business. Very good guy. Sterling reputation.
is there a good place in the area for buying b&w chemicals and darkroom supplies?

Pro Photo 1902 I Street, NW 202-223-1292 See Dickran or Sebouh Bagdassarian - two Armenian brothers - they have owned Pro Photo since the early eighties. Good guys - they have a small store with a fairly large selection of chemicals, etc. for College Students in DC that are still required to learn traditional developing and processing techniques.
