View Full Version : A word about RFF contests
RFF Contest announcement.
Dear members.
It seems that our beloved disgruntled member Frank Granovski better known as “Frank G “ has been seeking attention for the longest time now. Well, Its time to give him the attention he wants. Frank runs a pornographic website were he defames the members of the RFF community and other reputable photo sites. He publishes personal information about members and associates members with pornographic images. Little does he know that according to Canadian law, publishing personal information without a consent is considered an invasion of privacy. Yes Frank you are breaking the law and its being looked into. Frank has gone to the extent of directing people to file complaints about the RFF photo contest. He has loinks on his website directing people to do so. So having said that let me clarify a few things. RFF nor Popflash have had any financial gains from the contest. Not 1 penny was collected in registration fees, raffle ticket or any other kind of entry method. We posted the rules with one of them being permission to publish a photo of the winning entry. We never did and we have no intentions of doing so either. None the less, you can personally thank Frank G for keeping RFF from sponsoring anymore contests until we can validate it is ok to do so. This is no sweat off our back but it is sad that one person can stir up trouble for so many. Anyway Frank You have gotten the attention you seek and now people can see what your intentions were

I'm sorry, Jorge.
One of the things on his website is about me. Then again, this doesn't surprise me much. Sean at APUG has finally banned him as well, IIRC, so at least those of us who are also there won't have to deal with him anymore.
But yeah, ask a lawyer (even one of those here) about the contests anyway. I'd think that someone would have stepped up and said something if what we were doing was in any way illegal.
And he is violating my copyright.
To put so much effort into what he is doing clearly shows this guy needs a life. It's kinda pathetic when you stop and think about it. Some people just cant move on.

I wasn't really worried about it until it came to this. He's taken things completely out of context on occasion and exaggerated some things. I'm guessing some people could get him on a variety of charges if they can connect the website with him personally. However, what do you want a bet that the name he uses here isn't his real one?
Edit: Hrm. WHOIS doesn't lie, though, as I believe it's illegal to use a fake name and address on a domain registration.

Hmm...that got me thinking. Remember "The Usual Suspects"? The part where Kaiser Sose says that "the greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist."? You may have something there.
Who is this guy? What's the background? He's been singling us out for slander randomly? Am I on his hit list?

Yeah. I noticed that he posted the quote by me about the guy in the bar. He seems fixated on the photo I'm using for my avatar as well. It was hot and I was wearing a tank top...I'm allowed to do so, right? :p
There has been some heat from other members to his hosting facility and it looks like they may have had him tame down the site.
that must have happened at least a week ago.
I'm lost here... well, I'm off to shoot pictures... gotta warm up -- am shooting Jerry Lee Lewis tomorrow... much more fun than posting...

He was kicked off Photo-net for his behavior. Best way is simply to not respond to him.
Yikes! I came across FrankG on the Cosina-Voigtlander Forums. Seemed like a nice enough guy. I don't know his history here on RFF but what is described above sounds like the work of a very disturbing individual.
I really haven't paid much attention to this stuff, but because of this thread I decided to find this guys website to see what the heck was going on. I found it and all I gotta say is H*ly Cr*p, this guy has ISSUES. His ramblings go on and on and make no sense whatsoever. He seems to be fixated on Jorge and the RFF in a very unhealthy way. I feel sorry for him and his victims. It is just too bad that people like this have to get in the mix and ruin the batter.

I didn't even know this existed and had totally forgotten about this guy... he needs to go work with the homeless in Vancouver. Then he'd see that there are things to do with one's life that transcend one's own. I hope he turns his life around, it's actually kind of a shame to waste a life that way.
I've read his site and, here is what my own reaction/thoughts are:
People get upset and people get heated. People use bad words. For me, that's OK.
BUT:
FrankG LIES. He has completely mis-represented 1) his interaction here at RFF and 2) other people's public comments about him.
Rob
Funny thing is, I kinda liked FrankG. Yes, he could be obnoxious on a regular basis but he also had a sense of humour I could appreciate at times. The ******** website doesn't do much for me. I've been there once or twice in the past, ran into my name a few times, and simply couldn't be bothered. The website shows a FrankG I'd rather not know.
can anyone post a link to his website? visited the RFF membership list and i believe he is not there anymore.

Well, I'm not distinguished in his site, and I didn't expect or imagine this individual taking something like a web forum this seriously... but then, the fact that it surprised me doesn't change that he's making very cheap shots at people in this place. Equally unforgivable is his public display of Jorge's address, not to mention the number of links covered with photos of very respectable people.

Frank G. is a barking lunatic. On photo.net, his posts started out innocently enough -- the typical newbie questions. They soon became annoying troll posts and finally, Frank resorted to what can only be described as stalking, where he posted a photo of a leica forum member walking down the street, unaware that he was being shadowed by Frank. Pretty creepy, really. Since then, his behaviour has become increasingly erratic and has resulted in bannings from multiple forums.

Wamjam just google his name and hit a couple of links, you'll find it in less than 2 minutes I did.
Francisco and Remy, I've just looked at his site and I see a photo a friend took here in Toronto is on his site and no credit is noted. That shows a total lack of respect.

How funny. I'm on his little page there.
He used the funny pic I took of myself once in the bathroom by drying my teeth and gums with a wad of kleenex and curling my lips in. I'd posted an apology after noting my own general whining. It seems I fit into the category full of fools uttering all their minds.
Whatever, Frank.
oh my...censored the web address. That is even funnier.

hey Jorge, watch out for FrankG, cause the guy is a BaGwa master. See:

:D :D :D
when you seek attention and love by any means
attention, definitely. love, probably not!
Just ignore him. Take legal action if you feel you could and should, but don't drag this out here on RFF, it will only encourage people.
In Russian they say "there will always be enough idiots" (дураков всегда хватает). Sounds applicable here.
don't forget those winky faces!
What rxmd said. The guy thrives on attention, however low he has to sink to get it. I wouldn't bother threatening legal action; either consult a lawyer - or contact his service-provider, asking if they're aware they're hosting pornography - or fuhgedaboutit.

Wow... I probably shouldn't have posted those picture of myself naked on horse back with the three Circus midgets and the bearded lady in the main gallery...:D
Early this morning, I was cycling near a lake with the most dramatic light you'll ever find. I had a P&S with me, carefully composed and made two shots and thought "Hey, that's a great start of the day..!"
Then I come over here, see this thread and it depresses me no end. Vitriole from those who don't even feature on FrankG's site. We've certainly come a long way from that laid back atmosphere we used to have..
Why aren't we out there snapping pictures, instead being nasty here? Know what? I'll follow my own advice..

What's wrong with that? It's not like it's abnormal or anything. Now throw in a bucket of Jell-o...well, that's just plain sick!

Don't worry Melanie, this type of guy only crawls out of his basement on dark winter nights. Pretty girls in summer dress frighten him....

Think I just found it, Sam but I'm at work and not going there. The Google search itself makes very interesting reading. A tragic waste of DNA.
Mark
By the way, if you manage to get on his site the FBI and Canadian authorities will be made aware of your visit there once you attempt to keave it or come back to RFF :) It monitors your ip and service provider. It is a means of tracking activity and could be used for future legal action :)

was that NOT bad enough?:bang:
Jeez, All y'all are crazy. I went to his website. So some nutty guy with a low traffic website gripes about RFF and makes fun of things that are said, and the people who said them. So what. But no, the wise administration of RFF decides to declare war and posts his name on the masthead of their high traffic website. I bet the traffic on Franks website has increased significantly. Brilliant move RFF. And if you call the tame photos on his website pornography...jeez, you've lived a sheltered life. There's more skin in some of the RFF gallery photos. It was a mistake and a waste of everyone's time for the administration of RFF to get down into the mud with Frank, and I imagine he's delighted that you've done so. Hope you enjoy your battle. Bye-bye.

vodid, the photos on that site were changed lately. They were of a different category before.
Otherwise, you are quite right with the low traffic-high traffic thing.
Vodid,
I agree with you. We have somewhat given hime what he wants. But atthe same time people will now know about him on other sites as well. As far as theimages go although they have changed just recently his website had some pretty explicit stuff. Some images looked like those of minors.
I read though most of the site the other night and I just want to ask, where the hell is my name? Am I chopped liver or something? I demand that Frank remedy this inattention and include some vaguely sexual aspersions about me, tout-suite--if not sooner!

There's only one thing worse than being talked about poptart, and that's not being talked about.
