I've been a little extravagent lately, and may have to let go a v.nice black J12 which I got from Kim Coxon a while ago.Has anyone an idea of a fair price at the moment,I had in mind 35/40 UK pounds or equivalent.
The LTM seem to go for more then the Kiev. What year and which mount might get you offers...

Noel,
It's in ltm mount, presumably from 1976,as the serial number begins with '76'.Which era is more sought after,50's,60's,or 70's?
Brian.
I don't know UK prices, but 35 GBP translates to about 55 EUR, and that would be a lot over here. I paid 35 EUR for mine (black flawless 70's in LTM, works on Bessa).

My J-12 is from 1987, in black, and was bought from Fedka for around 90USD with all caps and plastic case. I am very pleased with it. The rear cap is worth about as much as some lenses.

You got a bargain...they're worth more than that in LTM, usually.

That sounds about right to me. I've bought an 84 one for £30 (from Ukraine, so about £8 postage on top of that), and I've sold a 77 one for £35.

...works on Bessa...
What?
Mine "almost works". It can be screwed in when set to closest focussing distance. Then it can be focussed to about 4m, where it stops, because it touches some internal part near the meter cell (not the shutter) in my Bessa. Of course, meter doesn't work.
How about yours?

Much will depend on which version of J12 it is. Some of the later ones had a slightly smaller rear element and these will work on a Bessa. Most do not.

Don't do that! The lens will be worth much less if you do that!! ;)
Brian
A '76 will normally have the small (all glass) rear end, so might fit more restrictive cameras.
The earlier lens from the '50s are more attractive because they tend to be higher contrast, (more black paint) internally, and some people even collect them!
I've already got a 70's LTM in excellent condition so I'm unlikely to 'bite'.

Hi Bill,
I've sent you a PM.
Brian.
Sorry to not get back to you ASAP, but I'm looking for a perfect J 12 in a Contax mount.

'Goldarn it!',I fitted her to my green Fed 2,and she looks so neat that I realised that I would be crazy to let her go.So I decided that we should stay as a team:D
I'm feeling pretty good,(could it be that I have just realised that to sell a great lens, at a loss,to put away some cash for something else, which I may also eventually lose value on,doesn't make much sense.)
Is ther such a thing as Reverse GAS?;)
Brian.
