CG is getting really impressive. This is one of the better ones I've seen I think: http://features.cgsociety.org/gallerycrits/199846/199846_1156997804_large.jpg

Some more info about the graphics over at CGTalk here: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?threadid=399499

Makes you wonder what impact this will have on movies, TV and gaming in the not-so-distant future.

There is also a rendered image of Natalie Portman (link in his sig) - but that one is not nearly as impressive as the one in the post above.

This is the reason I think actors will be fazed out soon. A director can order up a computer generated actor with the right voice/accent, the right build, skills, etc. No need for stunt doubles, no typical freakish celebrity attitudes (like TomKat :) ), one take, it's done!

Cool link,
Todd

Thing is, they still have to animate the characters...of course, this is cheaper than paying Tom Cruise to play the character. Just hire some athletic physical actor to put all the animation gear on and jump around.

I'm not worried about that. I'm worried about "Good evening, fellow Americans..."

:p :p :p Nice Frank.

That does look amazing though. They do this already with stunt doubles don't they? putting on the famous actors face on the stunt guy?

If you've seen "Pirates of the Caribbean" , you've seen CG actors. Davey Jones and his crew are all totally CG overlaid on actors.

Beautiful pictures-I suspect a real person is harder than a "monster".
