Anyone here own a Kiev 5 besides me?

If so (or even if not) does anyone have any idea how to remove the film advance lever/shutter speed dial assembly so the top cover can come off?

Mine's fine except that the frame counter is stuck; I suspect that if I had the cover off, I could unstick it. I have quite a bit of experience working inside other cameras, so I think I could tackle the project once I get the case cracked.

PS -- Note that the Kiev 5 is what happened when a committee of apparatchiks decided to modernize the old Contax-based design by adding a projected frame finder, lever advance, crank rewind, etc. The top cover is NOT the same as those of the earlier Contax-like Kievs. Even Oleg was reluctant to have a go at this one...

Yikes :)

I can't help, but as that camera is on my someday list, I do hope you'll put a note in camera repair when it's done listing what you had to do.

Here's a Kiev site that may help although the repairs appear to be on earlier models.

This is for a Fed 5 which appears to be similar, may or may not help

Maybe the comrades at http://www.beststuff.com/forum/index.php?f=25 will have more info about this one...
