Fed-2b and VC Meter II

I just ordered the black Fed-2 from fedka. Looks nice.
I think I will order the VC Meter II too.
But:
- can I mount the VC Meter II directly on the Fed-2?
- can I mount the Double Accessory Shoe Type A on this Fed?

Normally yes. I reckon accessory shoes have been standardized for ages now.
The double shoe is only a bar of metal with two shoes that you mount on the camera shoe.
After all those shoes, what about talking about boots or Rangers?? :D

In the Fed-2 the shoe is recessed. Is this a/the problem?

Hey, I just read this, and I just wanna say that it won't fit. I have a FED 2c (green bodied) and my VC meter II wont fit on it. It's a bit frustrating. The mounting shoe of the VC Meter is too compacted. You'd probably need like a little extra shoe-to-shoe booster (kinda like those child seat boosters) in order to raise it up. It also won't work on the Zorki 6, no matter what position you mount it in (the interchangable screws on the bottom of the VC Meter II). It does work fine on my Zorki 4 though :)

Take 125th of a second. At 100iso, f:16 for bright sunlight, 11 for slight hazy sky, 8 for overcasted, 5.6 for rainy weather.
At f:5.6 : 60th for bright indoor
At f:2.8 : 30th for indoors with electric light, f:2 for dark indoors.
At f:2 : 1/15th for a bright street at night, very impressive!
You see, it's easy.
Now if you use slides, take a hand held meter...

I guess the Voigtländer double accessory shoe type A with its 4 mm is not the one. But what about the model B (7 mm) or C (10mm)? Perhaps one of them could raise the Meter to a higher level!

My VC I meter won't fight tight in my Fed-2(d) either. Sometimes I place a folded piece of paper under it to snug it tight. Most of the time I put the VC meter in my pants pocket and only take it out for occasional readings, adjusting mentally for different sun directions or lighting conditions.

Exactly my experience with C/V viewfinders Gene. Although not immediately obvious, there are significant variations in shoesize between earlier FSU models and it's often hard to find really compatible accessories. :(

You could try finding one of those hot shoe adapters to slide into the cold shoe. I can't imagine a cheaper way to give a VC Meter II a "boost".
