it's cold & snowing and i'm getting cabin fever.
i want to go for a nice long walk and shoot some photos.
i tried that the other day and made it for about 3 blocks and my fingers were frozen as was my face.
it was worth it just to see the looks on the faces of people watching me try to take some shots.
and it's only january...

Come and live in Boston, Joe! 51 deg. F and sunny today... :)
+8 C, raining and stormy.
Welcome to Holland. :)

Yesterday was just charming in Montreal. It kept around the freezing point while it was raining. Since most of the storm drains were blocked by ice (from the previous gorgeous days), street corners turned into little ponds with up to 3 inches of water. The sidewalks had the perfect mixture of melting snow and water with ice at the bottom. Lovely.
Poor Joe in Edmonton gets really freezing weather. I remember seeing a demonstration of what happens to a glass of water thrown in the air at -50°C last year on the news. It was shot in Edmonton...
Thanks (!) to global warming, Montreal's winter is turning into something not necessarilly pleasant. You never know what's coming at you. One day can be like Edmonton at -25°C and the next day, it's just like London, just to go back to Edmonton the day after. Freezing rain is becoming our local specialty.

i hate the freezing rain!
we get it here infrequently but i remember driving in ottawa during a freezing rain. it was insane!
i just want to shoot a bit. it's hard to take street shots when you're not out on a street.

I have been wanting to shoot too. This morning I took the edge off by bottling my wine. Got to go do some sampling in a little while. :D

i thought i'd calm myself a bit by doing a new 'family portrait' with the new camera & lens added.
i have been setting it up, adding some old photo books as support and background.
the batteries in my borrowed digital are dead!
charging now...

Rover: strange day to bottle wine. Most people would "unbottle" it, considering the occasion.
I have a unopened bottle of Moët & Chandon that looks terribly suspicious today. Something wrong in the picture...

I hear you, Joe...we've been getting about a foot a day for the last three days and it is still snowing as I write. The cameras are by the door ready to roll!
Happy New Year!

Colder than a lawyer's heart , slipperier than an eel, knee in brace so I can walk, but tomorrow come daylight I'm dragging my hiney out there and burn some film. It's great to be a Northerner.
Besides, it'll keep my fingers from the "bid" button on our favourite site.

The holiday delivered a workforce to my house. My parents spent the night, so this morning I put them to work. I do all the hard work, lifting, carrying, running up and down stairs. I just need the extra hands and willing spirits. 7 cases bottled, corked, and labeled in 4 hours including the clean up.
Far be it for me to say anything about Southern Cal and Pheonix again. At least not after my last comment.
But look at the bright side, with that really nice P and a selenium meter we don't need no stinking batteries going dead in the cold.
Joe,
I'll trade you some weather :D
Over x-mas we have had temps in the mid to high 30's (that’s C and +) but today its dropped to a pleasant 27C (joy). Later in the week we have 31, 34 and 38C forecast.... and like you said "and it's only January". Feb-March should see some days around 42C :(

well, at least i sleep better in the cold than i do in the heat.
not really sure what's worse, -30 or +30?
beside the actual coldness of the cold (?), i hate having to wear winter coats and gloves. i tend to look like the michelin man!
plus it's hard to swing my camera bag around to the front of me. lol!
but it could be worse, i guess...

Would it be out of place or rude for me to talk about mid-60's F and sunny here in middle Georgia?
I suppose it would so I won't. :D

i wonder if there's work in atlanta for me?
joe
Moving all your cold rangefinders south would probably
stop global warming...The sunshine would sunburn you
too.

What a coincidence, Joe...... me too. :)
Sounds to me like you should find a convenient excuse.... I mean reason..... to visit about now. They're calling for high 60's and low 70's all week.
BTW, the job market in Hotlanta is supposed to be pretty good.
