Last week I got in an unpleasant little *issing match with a fairly well-known tech writer on another forum. The thing is, when it was done, I was embarrassed to have been sucked into it. You know, in the back of your head, that there are all kinds of all ages and dispositions on the net, so when somebody does something irritating, it's best just to walk away. I didn't, because he did something that has become intolerable to me, and has become rife all across the net. That is, I asked a simple question that had a simple answer -- when was a commercial version of a particular program going to come out -- and instead of getting an answer, I got patronised and mocked. What is that all about? You see it everywhere, now. Somebody asks a simple factual question looking for a simple factual answer, and he gets dumped on.
I don't mind heated arguments, but this pis*y little prepubescent behavior gets on your nerves after a while.

the net and the anonymity of sitting alone in a dark room has made many fearless and they consider themselves experts now.

It is the Internet version of Road Rage.
It's surprising how many Rambo's there are out there sitting in front of computer keyboards, ready to thump out anyone who does anything to annoy them.

Don't get me going. Full Metal Jacket is on History and I have the urge to attack.
Guilty...but holy crap do you see some of the bull people try to pull off? Excuse me, I'm remote-piloting a drone 737 full of dummies into a skyscraper full of pre-planted explosives right now, and you're a total idiot if you don't believe me....be back in a minute.
I think I'm just not cut out for this medium of communication.....there's just no accountability. Snipe and run....bunch of keyboard cowards.

keyboard cowboys
keyboard cowards
no responsibily and no one really to answer to.
Warning: Keyboard Rambos appear larger on screen than they are in real life.

Yep. There seems to be a direct correlation between "bad as*" net behavior and true-to-life wimpiness.

And ultimately that might not be a bad thing. Internet forums allow us small guys to project our large potential.
:)
I enjoyed the heated differences of opinion.....some good members even left because of it. It was rarely personal, other than the occasional nut. But this 'I've seen your gallery buddy, and it sucks' stuff is new (and the sycophants who sign up to support it).
Rudeness just bugs me, guess I need a thicker skin.

I suspect most of these people are 13-15 years old kids who don't have anything better to do than to act big..

Just a sobering thought that keeps me from writing any drivel. Just remember that somewhere everything that you post on the internet is being kept track of.
