I have put up a gallery in PBase of Nurses of Singapore. Do feel free to take a look and critique. :D
Very nice Pete! I"m sure your team would really enjoy them!
Peter, when do you have time to shoot such wonderful pictures? Being a nurse must be hard and tough work, and still you manage to produce such wonderful, telling and emotional shots.
Mostly done on my off days! One must sacrifice for art! :p Thank you guys for viewing.
Peter these are fantastic! Congratulations!! Have you heard of a book called Women in Medicine (http://www.fireflybooks.com/advance/bookdetail.asp?id=7510)? Shot this year and last with a Leica by a Canadian photojournalist called Ted Grant. I'm getting it for Christmas and I think you would be interested too. You can get it for about $23 from an Amazon affiliate.
Thanks Peter. Yes I have seen the reviews and I intend to get one myself!
Thank you Peter for sharing your superb documentary work.
Peter, let me add my thanks for sharing your excellent documentary series!
Thanks Gene and Marc! The pleasure is mine to share my work with other RF photographers. In fact, I think it is more fun to shoot with manual RF than looking at the results! :p
Peter, that's really excellent documentary work. Really strong, and the shots are really great!
Great images of a very tough profession and good use of that Ultron 35.
Peter, Great work!
I do agree with all of you. Great job. Keep going on and thank's for sharing ! Happy Merry X mas to all !
Great photos, Peter. In no case do you seem to be noticed so the candid nature of the photos makes us feel that we are there.
A very happy holiday season.
Thank you very much guys! So long you guys are happy! Merry Christmas to you all! :)
Peter, it just occured to me, I think it'll be interesting to also capture scenes of the nurses finishing their shifts, showing their weariness, maybe with hints of smiles? scenes of them packing up, changing out of their uniforms to civilian clothes (heh.. no I meant it in a non XXX way) and finally going off out of the hospital as civilians? this would show that they are just like anyone of us, normal civilians just coming to work and doing their job dealing with all the stress and worries that come with the job.
you could also interview some of them on emotional issues like SARS episode, nice memories, tragic memories of patients, touching memories, etc and capture their emotions, along with their stories this would be a very nice documentary project.
What you said did cross my mind but the management has very strict guidelines and not to mention very limited resources. I did most of the shooting on my off days and the management only wanted photos of nurses at work for their archive and slide shows!
Thank you, Peter, for taking the time to share these wonderful photos. Both the nurses and the quality of your work are inspiring, esp to a RF newbie like me. Have a safe and wonderful new year! --Mike
Thanks Mike for viewing my work. I would like to wish you and your family a wonderful New Year!
