I have none to show of my own. I don't count my Argus C44 since that was simply a cleanup. I'm looking for inpiration.

I know that Laika has done a fantastic repaint or two or three, and that DMR has reanimated and "hacked" her QL17 III. We've had one member who "powder" coats old FSU iron. And, there are those who have restored lenses and converted old Polaroid folders.

This could be an opportunity to show off. Why not display images of your gear that you or another member has brought new life.

What qualifies? Any camera of the rangefinder, scale focus TLR or SLR types that are at least 30 years of age, that you or another member has repaired, restored, repainted, or converted. No repairs or restorations by commercial repair shops, sorry.

This could be fun. Extra creds for those who shoot them with a rangefinder or scale focus camera.

This is not a contest, just an opportunity to strut your "stuff."

Easy: use the RFF photo attachment form!
It will be in the "Additional Options" section when you write a new message, just browse your way to the image's location on your computer (you first need to copy the images from your camera to a spot on the computer).

Done!

Actually, I'm hacking on it right now. I'm waiting for the light on my super-precision sunny-16 lightbox to swing over a few more degrees so I can recalibrate the high end of the scale again. I finally found out (some obsure notes on the Classic Camera Forum) how to mechanically set the zero on the GIII.

Yes, this time I did take a few photos of the process. I don't know how they will come out. They are with extension tubes on the Pentax. Assuming this process continues to come out well, I do plan on writing this up. :)

Uh-huh, sure do. It's my primary camera for serious work. (Rangefinders have become my primary low-light cameras.) It's a K1000, almost old enough to vote -- maybe it is, gone thru countless rolls and still feels new. I've said many times that I expect it to be working just as well long after many of today's Latest And Greatest digitals are decomposing in the landfill. :)

But- I think that you should have fun posting your process for tweaking the exposure control on your Canon as an independent thread. I know others here would benefit.

Well, it looks like I can only attach 3 anymore, so here are a few. A couple of them that I hoped would be good turned out as fuzz :( but I'm not gonna tear that thing that far apart again just to re-shoot. The one of the elusive screw did come out half-way decent.

One thing this system doesn't have is a good place for articles, like long items that have several photos and drawings and will get few if any replies.

I guess I could start a thread, three images per message, and just go on with as many messages as it took.

Anyway, here are a few.

The first shows that red-stripe flag (is it really that useful?) blocking the electrical adjustment. The adjustment itself is right behind that flag and can be seen partly on top of it.

The second is that elusive screw, the one that has to be loosened to physically rotate the meter assembly to set the low end of the scale.

The third is just the start of the procedure with the advance lever and all of the assorted washers and such removed and laid out in order.
