Does it have to be vented? Would a rectangular hood do fine as well, if it is not too big it might not block the viewfinder

It will be on a Jupiter 9 lens on a Fed 2 ,might block a little part of the viewfinder, really don't know.

Here's an idea:The "perfect" lens hood (http://www.geocities.com/fzorkis/hood.html)

I Made one for the 80mm lens on my cheapy TLR, works great. If you want, I have an excel file that can calculate the dimensions for you.

I have been looking for one of these for my Oly RD but I can't find them either. A regular hood blocks a bit of the viewfinder. Let me know if you come across them.

Something that should be kept in mind that the vented hoods are not perfect, you will get a little blockage still.

Well, I can just post it here. Credit goes to J O'Connell for making this (can't remember where I found it...)

Open the zip attached for it. It can be used for any film format, just change the negative size

I don't think there is much point in looking unless Leica made one for 85s. The third partty hoods were probably all Hoya and they stopped making them many years ago as, by the 1970s, the collapsible rubber hood was the only hood anybody wanted. The Hoyas weren't too good. Within the normal range of usage at least, they were all the same diameter and depth. The size of the vents varied according to the size of the mount. They were OK for wide angle and thus not so flash on a tele, very few hood were.

I submit that making one, or hopefully merely cutting one, to Comp-wiz's formula would be a better way. At least there would be no shortage of 49mm mounting rings around....
