Ash - some splendid stuff: but I'm unable to comment until you explain what in the name of heaven the person in shot 3 has done to themselves? Is that piercing gone mad?! It looks like make-up from Hellraiser!

Yours in utter bewilderment, Ian

Yep Francesco, that's my portrait of you! :)

And thanks Jocko. Tony can vouch that both me and Tony got a free photo of the pierced man, but on our way back past he already had a sign up to pay to take his photo!!

Ash,
They all look good to me!Well done.
The first series were at Camden Market if my memory of the place serves me well? The other location sees very cosmopolitan, where were these taken?

Looks as though you all must have had a good day!

Brian.

Lord, that's troubling!

The picture which really jumped out at me here is perhaps not one of the "obvious" choices - it was number five: the street with the stalls and the bins seen from above. I was powerfully reminded of one of Dore's engravings of Victorian London: of an anthill of activity, anonymous figures, garbage, commerce, all somehow hidden and heaving. Street-shooting is never something I was ever able to do and I just wish I had your confidence!

Cheers! Ian

Thanks :)

Yep Camden is correct! Then it was Speakers Corner at Hyde Park I think!

I wanted to get my negs up before the rest of the guys shadow me with their skill and their superior equipment! lol :)

Yea No.5 is one of my favourites. the tones remind me of HCB, and most of the photo's coming out around that time.

I've fallen in love with Pan F+ 50! (If only it wasnt so slow, my photo's of Tom from before were pushed to the extreme)

I think that it's less about confidence, more about opportunity. The more opportunities to get in people's faces and climb up onto back alley ledges, the better.

My favourite is the really intense looking muslim guy staring hard out of the picture. I like the ones of the man with long greasy hair and a cowboy (?) hat. A lot of the pictures look old - compliment!

Ash, you have some very good stuff here. The ground shock of the wonderful Zorki shutter moving takes effect after the event (watch cricket from a distance you see what I mean).

Very well done. The shot over the bins is very good as are others.

Good one of Mark at the end, shame about the bald spud on the left though:)

Well done!

I just souped one roll, will scan a few during the week.

Thanks for the compliments. I have 2 others with some big baldy in the pics :P I thought I'd save you from a bit of a banter over them - if you wanna see the pics i'll link you to em tony

Ash, thanks for saving me from the grief. My anti halide cloak still needs new batteries.

Thanks Ash, If I recall one or two others (Jo with her pixels) might have spoilt a decent shot with the wing-nut head in it.

Cheers for now....

Boy, do I need a haircut! :) Nice shots, Ash and so quick. You haven't got a digital compact hidden in that Zorki, have you? My measly two rolls are still drying having souped them after dinner this evening.

Heh, it took around half an hour to process, 15 minutes to dry completely and cut into 6-strips, but it took about 2-3 hours worth of scanning, resizing etc.

Great photo's Ash. I'm sorry I wasn't able to stick around for a bit longer. :( Oh well, til next time...

And speaking of people who need a haircut, looking at your first shot it seems that I could do with a bit of a trim :D

cheers

Great photo of the preacher pointing out the Bible passage to you!

how did you manage to take the shots without people noticing? i alway find people notice my camera the moment ihave it out of the bag. granted its a SLR. but there has to be a technique or you are a really fast focuser?

Ash

Macpod, speakers corner is FULL of cameras, so people are used to it.

Ash

Yea definitely. I was stood taking photo's of anyone and everyone. Then I asked a black lady to shuffle a little to the left so I could get a better photo, and she happily scooted along a little. Then I motioned my camera to my eye to photo her an she stuck her hands up an turned around laughing.

You know when NOT to take a photo, and part of street photography is how to 'ask'.

That is definitely NOT a cowboy hat! Looks almost like one worn by an Orthodox Jew. I have four cowboy hats, have spent many years kicking around the West and have a brother-in-law who runs a Western Clothing store, so I can speak with some knowlege and experience about what it ISN'T! ;o)

Great shots! That one looking down into the alley is phenomenal (one of the first ones you posted).
