Hello XPan/TX Users & Everyone,

I have attached my favorite picture from the firs ever roll taken with my XPan.

It's not a big deal, but something.
Fortepan 400, 1/45:f8 as I remember, handheld

Post yours! :) One from the firs roll.

At first I attached an image which was enormous, and then when I deleted it I was unable to update the original post with a new smaller picture, however, here it is.

Berci, great picture! Perfect subject matter for the format! I'm sure this would make a beautiful print!

Hey Franks,

It seems that there is no life out there so I have changed the rules.

Post a picture from the first roll of your favorite camera, just to relive the excitement. :)

Hey schaubild :)

I like the pic. I can almost hear the voice of the shutter. Singing birds and the silent click of an RF.

Nice urban shot, berci! One wonders what's around the bend...

And ok, I'll bite now that you've changed the rules! I do not have an XPan or any other pano camera, but here's a shot from the first roll (Ilford XP1) from the used Fuji GA645Wi I got last year; 45mm wide-angle lens, cropped to pano proportions.

Very nice picture Doug! I have an older Fujica GS645W camera that I really like.

All I can say is, What a great format! the subject matter takes on a different meaning when shot in Xpan.

Whoa Doug,

That really is a nice one!
Have you used a filter?

Thanks, Frank and berci... Bare camera, no filter, no tricks, just nice Fall color with leaves having turned all yellow and orange, except the evergreens.

This is up in a canyon in Central Washington, cowboy country. There is a creek running along at the base of the slope behind the trees.

I've found that the Ilford XP1/XP2 has better red/yellow sensitivity than, say, Tri-X, so that may explain a bit of the tonality; I do like that film.

Looking at my records, this was XP2 Super, not one of the old refrigerated rolls of XP1 still on hand as I'd assumed.

Wow, that's a beaut, Doug. Great tonality and as Jorge says, the format definitely adds to the effect.

as everyone, I do love your shot doug, I was first thinking it was made with XPAN. If I had not so many different gears. I might be tempted by GAS again.

Interesting shot, Quigley! Is that the 30mm lens? Thanks Laurent, I appreciate your comment. :)

Thanks Doug! Yes, that is with the 30mm. Handheld at f11 with center filter removed (Gasp:) Velvia 100 - Sorry for the not so great looking scan... I need to tweak it out to get it closer to the chrome.

Rented an Xpan with 45mm and 90mm lenses couple of weekends ago. Here's one from the first roll: handheld with HP5 plus.

I've also attached 2 more, but not from the first roll.

Very interesting to use and certainly forces a different viewpoint, but not sure I'd use it often enough to justify buying one.

Wow Nick, the first two are great! Well done.

Thanks Doug!
One great thing about having little people is they are always available when you want to test out a new camera. (as in "hey kids, come stand againest this wall and do something funny")
I shot these on TriX and developed at a 1 hour photo shop. They were scanned on a Epson 4870 flatbed scanner and left as is.

I like #1, but #2 is something Cartier-Bresson might have done. Nicely done!

I got my Xpan three weeks ago and the first roll I put through it was Ilford FP4. Here is one shot, taken hand held before catching my train. I believe it was approx 1/6 sec at f/4.

Union Station, Washington DC.

Laurent,
thanks for the kind words. I wasn't sure how it would come out, but I'm also pleased with it.
