Hello,

A friend had a fiddle with my G2 today and appears to have done something odd to the settings. I normally use it in SAF in AE mode. Friend was trying to suss the manual focus and was pressing buttons merrily while turning the manual focus dial.

Camera settings now appear to have been altered. When camera is in SAF, the viewfinder says 16" and shows an underexposure arrow. Have tried to rest according to p188 of (pretty cofusing!) instruction manual. Nothing changes. Have also tried taking batteries out to no avail.

Am getting pretty frustrated - any suggestions appreciated...!

Thanks,
Gavin

Only in SAF? The 16" in the finder is a reminder for me to take the lenscap off :-)

I can't think of any custom settings disabling the meter.

Check the film speed / DX settings. A super slow film speed may give you those results.

I agree with Che. Hold the ISO button until it blinks and then turn the MF wheel until DX is shown in the display, then turn off. Also - never let that person near a camera again. :)

Could be ISO, did you try it inside?

Sounds like you let my wife play with your camera.

Thanks for replies - got it fixed eventually. Moral of the story + be careful who plays with the camera!...

Ok, lucky you got it fixed, but what was it?
