Hi all,

I want to get a UV filter for my cv25, so was curious if the ones heavystar sells vignette on the 25 w hood or not. I know lots of people buy hoods from him, so I figured filters too. If they do vignette, which filters do you use for your cv wides? Thanks,
GB

Personally, I would go for the B+W filters as being the least likely to affect image quality. If you are worried about vignetting, they do a slim version with no front thread for WA lenses. With the CV hood, this is not a problem.

Their 39mm filters seem decently priced and the Pro-series is supposed to be excellent-nearly as good as B + W at about one-half the price.

Hello:

I have not seen any vignetting with either Leitz or B+W 39mm filters on the CV 25mm. hoya or other similar should also be OK.

You don't need a "slim" filter. So long as the filter isn't "thicker" then the hood the CV comes with, it should be okay.

Any special reason for a UV filter on the CV25? I've got the impression that this lens already does a fair share of reducing UV by way of its coatings.

I use one all the time on the 25/4 in order to protect the lens. I use the LH-1 lens hood so I can't fit a lens cap... Same story for the 50/2.5 and the LH-2 hood.

Some B+W filters have a thicker rim than other makes i.e. the glass area is smaller. However, I don't think this causes a problem on the 25, it may do on the 21. I use B+W, Leica and Heliopan filters, all of which fit under the lens hoods.
