The jupiter 8 has an infinity stop, but does it have a close focus stop? Mine will focus past 1m until it is tight with friction... any ideas? My J-8 is a bare aluminum with a pin to stop rotation (like an industar)

That is perfetly normal for a J8. If you want more info on a service, try my websit here http://pentax-manuals.com/repairs.htm

Thanks, that was a great help. Your document on ReLubing the I-61L/D was a lifesaver for me!
J-8 does have a bent filter thread though... any ideas on what can be done, perhaps a replacement?

Cut a half circle in a piece of hard wood the same diameter as the front ring. Rest thr ring in this and then you can knock the dent out. :D

If you get really stuck, I may have a spare.

Hi Wiz. Kim's site is a life saver, got me out of the mire s few times, the tale of 4 J-8's is brill, oh, and if Kim doesn't have a spare front I do, can't think why, must be missing a lens somewhere :(
Take care.
