View Full Version : Help! Contax G2 won't shut off
I just sold my G2 to another forum member. He e-mailed me today saying the camera's on/off switch is apparently not working. Said all the camera's functions still work when the shutter switch is in the off position. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, is there a quick fix?
Thanks,
Charlie
No, neither my G1 nor my G2 have this and the 167MT with a switch like those on the Gs doesn't have this as well.

I was just about to start a thread regarding this issue.. but you beat me to it. :)
Nonetheless, I hope to work this out.
thanks Charlie, really appreciate you working with me on this.
regards,
Trevor
I just tried my G2, the camera turns on at more the 2/3 of the way between off and where it clicks into the on position. It turns on before I hear and feal the click.

I'm in the process of pouring through the manual... could it be a custom function that needs to be set/triggered?
Not that I knew it, the switch is a real switch.
If needed, meet me on ICQ or on Skype as volker_hett. I won't go to bed for another hour, just poped open a bottle of beer :-)

If you haven't tried this already: maybe switch off and take out the batteries for a minute?
This thread may be helpfull, too

Hi socke... thanks for the gesture.... however, i'm in the midst of classes now, (reading my G2 manual behind my textbooks) and can't really talk...
sigh....
:D
I have the G2 repair mauual here if you want me to check and see if it has the same pads... maybe something got loose inside and shorted it.
After I bought used G1 I often couldnt turn it on. Then I get it to service where they replaced oxidised switcher for 60$ :)
I think this is a common problem for a such tiny detail.
Take the betteries out for a minute! Then put them back!!! It works for me...
