G1 ViewFinder with 90mm

I was thinking about getting a Sonnar 90mm for the G1 if it presents itself. But, since I have very little G1 experience I was wondering how the Viewfinder will respond to a different lens. Will the parrallex correction borders try to influence what the picture will be, just like the 45mm I have now. Something I forgot to look into before I purchased the G1. Of course the Viewfinder won't magnify to represent what I will see when using the 90MM or will it.:rolleyes:

It will magnify for the 90, and do parallax correction all the same as the 45. I think all the lenses will do this except for one - the 16mm? You have to use a finder.

Also, the glass on the 90 is great. Grab it if you can.

Thanks for info Scott, I removed the 45mm from the G1 body and watched the Viewfinder move to a nuetral position, interesting.

I have not purchased much used equipment, This camera from B&H, a case From KEN-MAR, and I'm waiting on a hood for the 45mm from an ebay seller from Montreal. I have contacted a company called, Keh.com (www.keh.com) they seem to have a fair amount of 90's shown on their web page, How current I don't know. Most of the Customer Testimonials seem to indicate they are conservative with their rating.

I can say that the "Bargain" grade at KEH is better than some places' excellent. I know my bargain Mamiya 645E was in really nice shape when I got it.

By the way, the G1 with the 90mm on it, has a viewfinder with a magnification of near 1.o0x. Why? You can shoot with both eyes open, one looking through the viewfinder. Very nice.

I bought a 90 mm from KEH rated as good. I could not find a flaw on it. I've purchase several "as is" items from them that were fully functional and better than some "mint" items purchase on e-baty.

Of all the G equipment I've see, I've NEVER seen any with damage. I think whatever they use for the finish is stern stuff.

Yes, but it IS possible to mar it -- I managed to put some small bright marks in the backdoor of the titanium-finish G2 I used to own, as a result of continuing friction against my metal eyeglasses frames. The same thing happened on my former Contax T2.

So if you've got a Kyocera Contax and want to keep the finish nice, I suggest you look for spots that get rubbed constantly and protect them, possibly with a strip of clear tape.

I have some bright marks on the back of my G2 and TVS and on the 90mm lensshade.
I keep all of that stuff in a very small bag and when in a hurry I just dump the changed lens or body into the bag.

As I'll never ever sell my G2 and TVS, I'm proud they show signs of use :-)
