Hi there ! I'm new to R2, I would like to use my Leica CL lens Summicron 1:2/40mm on R2 body, would it cuase any effect to R2 focus range system ? Anybody has experience with this set ? I just don't sure since I couldn't have the right infinity focus show in viewfinder when I use this lens with my R2. Thanks !
It should work. Are you having problems with the infinity focus, or are you worried that you MIGHT have this problem?
I use my 40/2 CLE without any problems at all. I guess the Summicron has a different focusing cam in the lens, right? I have not heard of any problems, and I am sure there are others around here using that lens without issue.

If anything... the framelines. Does the R2 have 40 or 50mm framelines?
The R2 has 35 and 50mm framelines. I use my 40 with the 35mm framelines (manually selected on the R2) which cover approximately 100% of the 40mm field of view.

Thank you so much ! I'm just too worried about that. I'll try this combo first then, if I could have a chance, I'll go for another body like R3A.

Strange my 40mm Summicron -C works fine on my R2 and T! focusses to infinity OK!
Ditto for me. My Summicron-C 40/2 is my main lens on my R2. I too use it with the 35mm frames and have had no troubles at all. It's an older lens and a little subject to flare when facing the sun, but the resolution, 3D look, and bokeh is outstanding.

If the focussing mechanism of the lens isn't completely off (like you see at some Russian screw mount lenses), and the camera focussing works as well, which can completely be tested with *one* 50mm lens, all brands of M-lenses should focus exactly and precise.
