can anybody tell me what the size of the summarex (length/width) is? is it comparable to a jupiter-9?

the reason i ask is that i look for a leather case (the old, hard leather kind) for my elmarit-m ... the jupiter-9 is just a bit bigger in size and a case that is on sale for the summarex -- if the lens is about as big as the jupiter-9 -- would intrigue me.

yes, i could also look for a case for the elmarit, but i have only seen one so far, and it was sold together with a lens on ebay by rhona45th (http://cgi.ebay.de/Leitz-Leica-28mm-f2-8-Black-Paint-Elmarit-cap-hood-case_W0QQitemZ7578988478QQcategoryZ30063QQtcZphoto QQcmdZViewItem) (the guy with the $1,000.00 leather case up for grabs). but i am naturally open for suggestions, tips, hints and the like. thanks.

I can tell you it takes the same cap as a 125mm Hector which uses 58mm filters, probably a 61 cap. Then the shade is 10 mm wider for a total around 70.

A Summarex case would fetch a premium because the lens is fairly collectible. You might want to check Olympus cases--they included them with their lenses I think so there are many floating around. Gene W could probably guide you to the perfect size/model for the Elmarit.
