What is the difference between a g1 and a g2?

G2 is a little bigger - around four ounces and also bigger in hand. Better AF system, bigger viewfinder. 4 fps max as opposed to 2 fps max for the G1. G2 has a faster top shutter speed - 1/6000th as opposed to 1/2000th. Focusing wheel is located on the front of the G2, but not the G1. G2 also has a "release-priority continuous AF mode"; someone else is probably better explain the differences in actually using the camera.

The G2 has a dedicated focus lock button, you can lock focus and shoot away. Or wait and you don't have to keep the fire button half depressed.

I have heard several times the G1 autofocus is actually a bit more accuarate than the G2, but slower. Anecdotal.

Also the G2 supports the 35-70 zoom lens, the G1 does not.

I have both a green sticker G1 and a G2 and use them interchangably. I find the differences to be minor in actual use.

The only time I'll actually select one over the other is when shooting iso 400 film in bright sun. Then I'll take the G2 for the 1/6000 shutter. Otherwise it's whichever I grab first.

Do you find 90mm is harder to be focused on G1?

I also find G2 is much faster in focusing in darker situation (evening, indoor, etc.)

The G2 is also slightly quieter. Which is what is intriguing me...
