i came home over lunch time in hopes of seeing my 25 at the door, but what i found is a notice from the poste asking for $12.90.
so i now have to wait till after 5 p.m. to pay the ransom and get my new toy.
seems like a very long time to wait...;)

Joe:

I remember when I sent my M6 and Summilux via FedEx to DAG. The b's left it right at his door. At his door! Apparently you have to explicitly request a signature. Topsy-turvey.
Ha - ransom is right, Joe.

You don't have to open the box until Sunday night, however. :D

Hmmm...I didn't realize FedEx had done a "flip flop" on that - used to be they HAD to get a sig unless you specified one was not needed. Guess changing policy it improved their "delivery times"!
Joe, I almost sympathize with you. Almost. A Priority Mail package was shipped from Savannah, GA, to me Tuesday........ less than 200 miles away. When it didn't arrive by yesterday I was concerned and called the Post Office. The tracking number only indicated shipment on Tuesday.
When it didn't arrive today, I first checked the shipping number again. It was delivered yesterday at 2:11 PM....... but NOT to me!
Knowing that my mail has been delivered to the wrong address before, I jumped in my truck and drove to the house where my mail is sometimes dropped off. MY package was sitting in front of their garage door and had been rained on for hours!! It had been there since yesterday. From all appearances, the family that lives there are away. Otherwise, they'd have taken the package inside and returned it to the P.O. and I wouldn't have seen it until tomorrow.
I just called the P.O. and left a note for the Post Mistress to call me Monday so I can complain to her..... for all the good it'll do. :(
But, I do have my "new" IIIa Leica with 50mm f/1.9 Canon Serenar lens. The body cosmetics are rough but the rangefinder is VERY contrasty and the wind/shutter mechanism works like it's been CLA'd in the not too distant past. It also may have been a WW2 US Military issue Leica. More about that later.

my boss 'prefers' for the staff not to get personal items sent to work.

I get everything delivered to work both for convenience and security. Mind you it costs me at Christmas time. Large tin of biscuits for the Mail room and a bottle for the secretary who brings it down to the office when I'm flying.

oh what a good day!
the 25 is sitting pretty on the zi and my little domke bag arrived today also.
it is meant for the zeiss outfit.
the camera with lens attached, the second lens and some film fits perfectly.
having a built in meter means i don't need room for the luna pro.
this little domke would be ideal for the m3 w/ lens attached, meter and some film.
i think i'm gonna like this bag for my usual one lens walks.
the lens looks good, the hood looks ok, kinda small and when i look at it, the $85. price stings a bit.
i hope to never lose it.
anyway, i will now, officially store all my other gear and concentrate on the zeiss.
and thanks to stephen at cameraquest for a quick delivery and a painless process.

beautiful new setup youve got there joe -
a little off topic, but ive been having trouble with fedex leaving really expensive stuff AT THE DOOR. even when it says clearly on the box SIGNATURE REQUIRED.
such as -
my 35 f/1.4L that came in from michigan, clearly says signature required, and it was left at my front door for anyone to take.
and the Hassy H1 had come back from service ( dont even get me started on that, it took over a month, and an additional $500 i wasnt happy ) it was also left at the door by fedex. and you figure, thats about a $4k piece of gear that was left at my door. i threw a hissy fit when i saw that lol.

that's why i stick to the post office.
they leave it at the door but they don't charge you for the poor service...;)
Joe: Yay!!!! What a beautiful kit, and I am nearly as excited that the little Domke seems the perfect bag. I'm sure you'll have it on its virgin outing this weekend, eh? Hey, hows about a Tim shot or two?

i was excited about the domke as well.
i like that it's so small and after cutting the big red domke label off it's just a small black bag with a great strap.

i'm lucky as it's always been my door.
i'm glad you were smart enough to know what door to look for.
Nice camera, Joe!
How about a shot of the Domke bag. Sounds like it might be the perfect size for me, but I need to see it with a camera for scale....
Cheers!
Nick
Yeah, the strap is great, isn't it? I haven't cut the tags off my 2 Domkes; dunno why, just lazy I guess. The small one, like yours, will go with me tomorrow to NOTL and Guelph and back.

I live at 105 Red Oak and they delivered to 105 Old Oak...... around the corner and about 4 doors away. They've delivered my packages there before so it wasn't too difficult to peg where it was. I sometimes get their mail too.
Anyway, I'm glad you got your lens and I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures taken with it. That's one sweet-looking outfit you have there, Joe.

Not to hijack Joe's thread or anything :p , but I just got a Domke F5X bag (olive, close to half-list)
I'll be damned if I can find the "seven compartments" that the manufacturer mentions. http://www.tiffen.com/domkecat08.htm
Thin pocket on the front, three vertical pockets inside and one long thin one right next to them, also under the weather flap. Nothing in the flap or on the back like most other Domkes.
It has also the usual Domke label, 'Made in USA' label, luggage tag etc plus a nice gripper strap, so it isn't a knockoff.
This one is olive and came from Ace Photo & Digital via Amazon's Web search.
It's a nice bag. Does just what I want it to. But there ain't seven compartments that I can find.
Joe: The Tiffen description is just plain wrong. The F-6 has 7 compartments as supplied new, so I think some descriptions got placed incorrectly with the product titles and photos.
Joe B, maybe that explains the good price! :) (a few compartments short of a full compliment)

That's one of the nicest looking cameras I've seen... period. I guess I just haven't looked at anything that's made after the very early '80's, and mostly much before.
In that neat little bag, a super outfit. Makes me almost start thinking about owning one. Broke is such a dull, offensive word. :bang:

That's a nice bag. I went with the F-803 in tan. Bigger, but it looks like a generic satchel, and I can stash the powerbook in the rear sleeve for meetings.
Oh, and the lens is kinda cute, too.

i have the larger mclassic bags when i need something bigger.
after a few hours this morning of using the 25 and the domke, i only have good things to report. have not souped the film yet, just got in, but that wide angle is just plain fun and i found i was MORE comfortable moving in closer for a shot. the bag is perfect for this use also, one camera, 2 lenses + film. it's so small and light that i didn't notice it was there and the strap is very nice.
it will be a great bag for when we get to shed the winter coats also.
