View Full Version : XPAN USERS: Notch or No Notch ?
I've just started printing full frame (as in showing a black border) on my darkroom prints and I've noticed that some of my negatives have the "hasselblad notch" in the upper right corner and some don't.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Thanks,
david
ps...I've uploaded a "Katrina" photo to the xpan gallery. Please have a look.
Hey david,
I honestly got no idea what your talking about, im not sure which is the xpan gallery or woteva but i saw this pic of yours
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=29380&cat=500&ppuser=447
and cant see what your refferring to??? good pic tho!!
Btw, what you use to scan those?.. you have to stitch?
Ben, if you check out this photo (http://www.apug.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=13079&cat=500&ppuser=976) you will see an "notch" in the upper right hand corner.
This is what has been missing in most of my images and it must be from the gate that moves when switching from 35mm to pano mode.
David, apparently i cant view that pic because i am not subscribed to APUG...
Even tho i am a member of the forum there!! pft
I would never have seen it then anywayz, coz ive only ever used my xpan in panoramic mode, dont think ive even switched the dial back to 35mm since ive had it lol...
Sorry ill ask again tho, what you use to scan the pano's?
Sorry Ben.
Try THIS (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=29491&limit=recent)
I am scanning 8x10 prints. I normally do not scan my negs but my Epson 2450 scanner with scan the entire neg perfectly. No extra software to make the image.
I am a darkroom guy and the digital thing just doesn't work for me.
Ahhh yes i see what you mean now,
hrmm cant say ive noticed that on any of my trannys, but i think your right about the 35mm - pano thing...
If you took the black border off you wouldnt notice it anywayz :)
Yeah, I get that. Quite like it, actually... ;-) No idea why it's there though.
That notch is there when the camera is in panoramic mode.
Check your camera without film, you will see.

I use my Xpan II primarily for pano shots, and print them all full frame. All of the pano prints have the notch on the upper right side. The notch doesn't appear on the standart 2:3 shots.
