i wonder how the hats are coming along??
it's very cold here and my clean shaven head could use another man made cover.
joe
Ok,
Htas are in. I am not that impressed with them. So, the first 10 members to reply to this thread saying they want one and are willing to pay 1.78 for shipping can have a hat for free :) Dont get me wrong these are nice hats for golfing, Its just that the font was not as big as I would have like them to be.
None the less in order to help the site please spread the word and after these hats are gone, I will have really nice ones made.

Looking forward to the hats.
Good deal guys. I am #11 by my count so I will catch the next freebee. Shouldn't have slept in this morning.
Ah, I joined too late to get the hat :) Maybe when the T-shirt is available I can get that...
Gene
Ah... days and weeks and months passed... Is there going to be a new bunch of RFF hats and t-shirts ?? Even though the later ones can have a hard competitor after the Al Kaplan's t-shirt phenomenon :D
SolaresLarrave

We need someone well connected with the press at a major city to start an Al Kaplan-esque phenomenon... And, of course, a major gathering of hat-wearers would go even better!
How about Chicago? Takers for Barcelona? Great photo-ops there! ;)

Sorry for the long delay folks. But, everyone who asked for a hat will have it shipped out tomorrow 7/12/04 . I have made all the labels and will be heading to the post office soon.
Don't get too excited. they are not the best quality hats. But, then again they are free :)
I will look into som T-Shirts soon.

Does the above image qualify for "Environmental Portrait"? Perhaps you should enter that into this July's theme. :)
Ok, hats are in the mail. Like I said, don't get too excited about them. They are not the best quality. However, if you guys like them I can have some really nice ones made but it will cost.
Thanks,

Richard/Peter, just crop that shot a bit and we're in business. And add, of course, a caption: "Document everything with a rangefinder camera!"
Or, "rangefinders: for the silent, quick photographer"
This is fun! :D

Hopefully I attached the image correctly. (if it is not, the photo is on phototalk at http://www.phototalk.net/photos/data/500/400rangefinderHat.jpg )
Good job Gorge! Check's in the mail.
BTW - the face was originally done on my home scanner as a followup on an article I read years ago about someone doing it on a Xerox machine. Then I tweaked it some to protect the innocent. So, here it is, a self portrait of a self portrait, with hat.

nothing to respect.
love her and respect her and put the needed energy into the relationship to make it work.
keep her number one in your heart and always make time for her.
these have been hard learned things for me.

Truer words were never spoken. Make her the priority instead of all the other distractions in life (can you say "photography?"... :) ). Give 100% and be happy when you get anything more than 50% in return. In other words, marriage ain't a 50/50 deal in that the only way to have a good marriage is give much more than you expect in return (and the best marriages are when both spouses adopt this attitude). Giving 50% and expecting your spouse to provide the other 50% generally turns into each only giving 25% which, obviously, is a formula for failure. I'm no more an expert than the next guy (although I guess I'm probably coming off like I think I am... sorry if that's the case) but I am just about to celebrate 20 years of marriage. So I guess I do have a little experience with which to speak. And I have found marriage much more rewarding when I stop worrying about the quid pro quo and focus more on doing the best I can at it. Best to you, pesphoto, and to your bride!

hmm.. any chance Jorge on, perhaps, RFF Polo shirts ? :)

Or a t-shirt for the younger, more casual crowd. ;)
should open a poll to see how many will wear the RF hats with the rim bented, versus straight... I can make some predictions..

hey hey.. I can go for a T-shirt too Kyle.. but ideally.. if not the polo.. I would want something like this:
http://www.faltownskateboards.com/images/library/black-shirt.jpg
Can't ya see it? (this one is from Fall Town Skateboards)
Down the right side of the shirt is your standard "film strip" (like the trailing part of the RFF logo), on the left side over the pocket is a patch with RFF and the web address on it; and perhaps on the back of the shirt it says something like "artist at work" across the top (shoulder to shoulder)

Dave:
First of all does this mean that your avatar will finally wear a shirt? I mean c'mon man ...
Second, we need extra pockets for lenses, filters, film (or CF cards, for the film-challaneged), model release cards, etc., etc.

Paid for my hat this morning. Can't wait.
If hats are ever offered again, could fishing hats be considered instead of baseball caps?
Only a certain breed of person wears them in the UK - not ones to be associated with really.
And my ever growing bald patch needs protection...
The hats are very nice. And they're black; would go very well with a tuxedo.
Especially if you're having an outside wedding...but then you should've got two so the wife doesn't feel left out...:D
Congrats(on the wedding, not the hat!)

I believe the "breed" is referred to as a "chav" (I've heard the term used before but haven't got a CLUE where it came from or what it really means.. it's derrogitory but it's not racially based to the best of my knowledge).
Dave
put the cap on backwards, and wear baggy pants, like 5 sizes too big :D

Yeah, I meant chavs - it's a completely multi-racial profession.
Here is one:

Tourists can get away with wearing baseball caps.

Don't listen to the mocking back alley, they used to mock hairy backs but they're all the rage nowadays.
Fishing, paddling or hiking, these (http://www.tilley.com/thumbnail.asp?gender=&extractBy=CategoryId&id=1) are what you want.

For what it's worth, I would prefer a fishing hat too. But then I'm spending a lot of time up in Wisconsin these days.
I've never been a ball hat sort of guy, perhaps it's because I sucked at it.
How about guys, a fishing hat with a RFf logo on it? Not that much better at fishing, but the kids love it and my bald spot is growing faster than my GAS is!!!

Not a bad idea really Dave... I'd definitely buy something like this with the RFF logo on it... Assuming we could keep the price down to around $30-40 including shipping in the US/Canada.
