Nice to see you so excited about things. This camera seems to be exactly what you needed to stir things up a bit. Can't wait to see photos of (and hopefully from) the lens. :)

Tomorrow I'm not broke...heading down to the drug store and picking up what Tri-X they actually have (which isn't much) and shooting some of it. Going to the bar tomorrow night, methinks...should get some awesome shots. I haven't been down to my favorite bars in ages...I haven't been *anywhere* in ages.
No work tomorrow. I think a walk around town shall be in order.

That ZI 25 is a hum-dinger.
That is going to be a sweet setup....
You won't regret getting a 25. Wish I had one instead of my 28.
The 25 is a superb lens...I definitely would have gone with one over the 28mm. 28mm never really did it for me. But I must admit I had a 28 ultron and it was an excellent lens...if I had to go with another 28, I would go with the ultron over the ZI for the speed and the price. The build quality on it was very good.
You should have got the 28. :D
Just kidding. ;)
Good going Joe. Can't wait to see some shots from the new rig.
Joe: Either lens is a winner for sure, so I'm excited for you, but ... TELL US ABOUT HOW YOU LIKE THE BAG!!!
Earl
Congrats Joe! From all I read it gotta be one terrific lens.
I am glad you got it in silver/chrome ;-)

Nice one, Joe. I have the same Domke bag, should be a good fit. What color did you get?

Good move, Joe. You had to find out for yourself. The good news is that if it doesn't fit your shooting needs, you can sell it to one of us. :p :D

I'm so jealous. When I was still in SLR-land, I always dreamed of having a CZ T* 25/50/85 combination... I suddenly feel this strange need to start saving! :D

Joe,
When I had Contax SLR stuff (in the '80s) one lens seemed to suit me perfectly--the
25 Distagon (OK, so it was closer to 26mm actual FL). I've never been able to adjust
to 28mm, but just that little extra made all the difference, without getting into
lenses with characteristics which scream "wide angle". Congrats--I think it was a
perfect choice.
Fred
Good decision with the lens, Joe! :)
That Domke seems to be the most compact bag for a rangefinder and one
or two lenses. I might get one also, though when I saw one in person the
zipper seemed to get in the way of accessing the camera. Maybe I just
need to get used to it.

Joe, care to share your thought processes in selecting the 25? Just curious.

Joe, care to share your thought processes in selecting the 25? Just curious.
i'm not much of a deep thinker...
first was my own experience...i liked some of the results with the canon 28/3.5 lens and wanted to investigate a wider than 35 perspective on a more regular basis.
while i was very tempted to stay with a 28 from a comfort level and that the zi has fl that fit a 28, i also wanted to try something new and i have less experience with wider than 28.
the 25 is getting some excellent press, in terms of sharpness/performance.
of course so is the 28 but the 25 seems to have a bit more buzz.
i think if i don't like/can't use well the 25 i can sell/trade for a 28 with less of a hit to my budget.
also, i am thinking of a 3 lens set for the zi and i thought 25/35/50 was a better kit. i am already saving for the 50 zm lens.
all that and the info from this thread and i ordered a 25...
I am sure you will enjoy this lens, Joe. This would have been my choice, too. Did you get the VF?

In Nikon SLR's, I always preferred the 24 to the 28. 28 is close to 35. 25 is closer to 24. Good Choice.

gonna try w/o the finder for now.
zeiss fan has been doing ok w/o one so i'll try also.
the zeiss finder is more pricey than most of my lenses so i might try the cv finder if anything.

When I read the posting title, I thought Joe got a VC 25mm/4 lens, but it seems he got "the" Zeiss lens. Congrats, Joe. Now shoot thousands of beautiful wide angle photos with this lens and show us what we are missing!
