what's going on? (curtains?)

My brand new (not really) M6 titanisiert is starting to behave strangely, although the previous owner had it CLA'd a few years ago.

The interval between pictures is more uneven than that of my M2, but I am used to that, thanks to the Kiev.

What's really annoying is the ghosting that appears on some pictures (especially outdoors), like those in attachment. Between 1/60 and 1/250 IIRC. :confused:

A light leak from the back would not look like that, would it? I am scared about a 'bouncing' (or is it 'rebounding') shutter. Help me please! The last thing I need right now is to pay French prices for a Leica CLA/repair. :(

No that doesn't appear to be a light leak. Except for one frame, the problem is confined to the 24x36 frame. Have you checked whether the 2nd curtain doesn't stick when it closes?

I fear it will have to go to Leica to check the shutter-curtains :( But first check if there is no a sliver of film preventing the 2nd curtain from closing properly. Sometimes a small torn off piece of perforation will do that.

It seems I can't get to replicate that behaviour in the lab (ie at my desk), but I'll look carefully for any tiny piece of film.

It would not, really. If you did not cock the shutter and the 2nd curtain sticks just before closing it will be light through the lens that causes the fogging. If you cock the shutter immediately it will pull the curtains back and close the opening thus explaining the erratic nature. And if it is a mechanical block of the curtain (for instance some filmrest) it may well move around.
