you remember when...

- Joe didn't own a Canon LTM RF
- Bill showed his "but I can lift heavy things" T-shirt
- Rich started a new thread called "Camera & Coffee"
- Frank S didn't own a Leica M3
- Russ gulled us (well me anyway) into thinking EK was reintroducting Panatomic-X
- Rich speculated on whether we might be interested in doing a book
- Oscar's signature said "just taffin' around"
- 3/4 of the members had cat avatars
- Jorge lived in Oregon
- Bill posted some photos of signs in Albuquerque, NM
- Most of the debates were "is Canonet, Yashica GSN or Konica S3 the best RF?"
- The Russian revolution started and Zorki advice was the hot thread

... over to you!

Dunno, Haven't been here long enough to know!

taffer
02-16-2006, 15:07
- Joe had three Minolta Hi-Matic 7s
- JDos2 had a Nikon RF
- Gene had a Leica CL
- Rich set up an Orkut community
- The 'just waiting for the mail, anyone?' didn't even exist...
- And Camera&Coffee had only 3 pages
- The board had the 10 top posters, and 20 more members
- You can't remember how many BCN RFF meetings you've had
- RFF didnt' have a gallery !
- The hottest item was a Moskva 5
- Leica M's were 'that thing'
- Your most written piece of text by far wasn't your address
- The people at the post office didn't ask 'where's the camera going this time?'
...

02-16-2006, 15:23
-Francisco's favorite RF was a Canonet and he still frequented another BB :p
-Bill had his romp with his dogs "new game, new game"

Todd.Hanz
02-16-2006, 15:24
ahh, nostalgia:

-Oscar took pics of cans
-If you posted a pic the gallery it would still be there two days later
-Canonets, GSN's and Konicas were abundant on ebay for ten bucks or less
-Rich was glorifying the Oly 35SP

Frank, I basically did this just before joining RFF, so does that make me "Xtra" hard-core? (Maybe best not to answer that...)

Being an old hand here, I remember that...

One of the longest threads was "what's your favorite film?",
Oscar's avatar was a cat!,
Richard's motto was "The Devil Uses an SLR",
Todd got his first Leica M,
Joe used to shoot with an Oly!,
Ralph (Rover) bought a Hassy,
Jorge was crazy about his new X-Pan,
We had a long discussion about which subforums should be created in RFF,
Jorge changed the forum appearance, we complained, and he switched it back to the original!
Bill posted his "I can lift heavy things" self portrait,
Bill also posted the story of his rubber chicken,
joe declared that capital letters were bourgeois,
Brett received a huge box full of all kinds of cameras...

Boy... we've come a long way.

Stephanie Brim
02-16-2006, 21:11
There is seriously nothing like buying a big box of cameras on Ebay... :p

I haven't been here long but I remember a few of these things. It's also been fun backtracking and seeing what I missed before I joined. Glad I'm here, glad you guys are here, glad we're all here. If I hadn't found this place I probably would have never gotten the rangefinder of my dreams. ;)

you remember when
There was no gallery upload limit, and ...
Graksi had less than a 100 images (everyone excellent, as always)
We first saw Marta
a few of us used to post our top ten gallery pics of the week
There were no advertisers
Joe last updated his blog (prior to the most "recent" one) ;)

and I still haven't used all of them (but I'm trying)

they've been scattered a bit since then, however.. one is in France, another is in Holland.. a half dozen are in the UK, and I believe one or two are in Canada.. I consider myself an RF Distribution Center

Joe passed 100 in the first week.

SolaresLarrave

Besides the book(s), I also remember:

When Natalia announced a website with the correct pronounciation of the names of our favorite FSU cameras in Russian.

That she was one of the first girls to join RFF!

When joe (no capitals, please) was annointed as moderator.

When Ralph started selling his Minolta gear!

The short and relatively tempestuous membership of Roger Hicks! :)

How RFF was featured in Shutterbug.

When Jorge helped nab a guy who broke into a camera store in Oregon.

Ah... the milestones! :)

- Remembering the old look of the RFF.
- When Rich got us so psyced about the first RF book (I still am ~ ; -)
- When Russ used to post here (Russ who?)
- When I paid $40usd for a super clean QL17 and thought that was too much.
- When Joe used to have to wait such a long time for Canada Post ........
Oh yeah,........ he still does - LOL.

Man, I remember every single one of those...

Remember when...

* Bill drove half-way across the country when he moved,
* You could log in and there wouldn't be more than a handful users logged on,
* New posts would be on the 'new posts page' for a week...
* When it was almost a race to see who would get to 1,000 posts.
* The 'Design a RFF t-shirt thread'

* And ofcourse..when RFF looked like this.... http://web.archive.org/web/20031029192816/http://www.rangefinderforum.com/

Oh, and I still can't believe that the Camera and Coffee thread is going....

Send a PM to Jorge with the change you'd like. I originally registered as Gene then realized that wasn't fair to the rest of the Gene pool, so I asked Jorge to change it to GeneW, which he did. You don't lose any of your links or gallery photos if he makes the change.
