Signs are good subjects. They stay still for you, will wait for the right lighting, and don't get upset when you take their photograph.

M3 50 mm summar uncoated.... I love the " Parking in the rear part"
There was this one sign on a restaurant window in Dresden, which really surprised me. it read: "Wenn die Sonne fröhlich lacht, wählt die blende nummer 8" or something like that. Which, poetically translated means: " when the sun is shining straight, choose the f-stop number 8"
I DID take a picture of it with my newly acquired Fed2, but back then i didnt know that a collapsible lens has to be "locked in" and the photo came out completely out of focus. DAMN IT!
A fun theme, Rick. I enjoy collecting signs -- here are a few:
1. Ice Unsafe
2. Reserved for President
3. Police Vehicles Only
4. Unit for Lease

Actually it looks like the sign is saying it's OK to piss here, otherwise it would have the diagonal slash through it. Too funny!

RLMAOF!!! Now that is friggin' hilarious!! Somebody had a problem, eh?
"Please leave valuable items in your end." Is that right? LOL! Hey, my French is rusty. :)
Gabriel M.A.

DMR: my French ain't great either, but here's my rough translation:
"Attention: risk of theft -- (kindly) leave things of value in (literally in) your ::ehem:: derriere ::ehem:: Thanks" ;)
Err.. could not resist this shot when out walking last Autumn. An odd walk to a small place near Bibury in the West of the UK.

I love the " Parking in the rear part"
You give them too much credit, you've actually made it a sentence; I've seen a number of the same nonsentences in stores around here (where I live). Marketing ploy? Me not know.
Here's one that often seems to get a double-take. :)

i wish i had a picture of it. but up in santa barbara, there is a realty company that has signs everywhere. and not only is the sign funny, it rings true ( i asked around )
it clearly states in bold letters: Karen Lacks Management
oh poor poor Karen Lacks. lol
Actually it looks like the sign is saying it's OK to piss here, otherwise it would have the diagonal slash through it. Too funny!
Beware of people pissing down on your head? :p

first 2 signs caught my eye, South Africa.
1 sign -no kites near an airfield, Chicago.
If the answer is NO - does this mean you can LIVE it up? :D
disclaimer, not rangefinder shots, but they are from my collection of funny signs
The first sign is hard to read, so I will reproduce it here:
The top is in Japanese, the bottom is tacked on in English and says
"When crossing [still Japanese],
be careful of the footing sufficiently.
Understand beforehand because the
responsibility can not be assumed
about the accident in case and so on."
The other sign is from Hawaii near the lava flow, but it took some airborne lava damage.

that wouldn't happen to be in Chapel Hill, NC would it? I had my car towed there once while I was at a bar across the street

I can't find my photo of the sign that says "Do Not Throw Stones at this Sign".
Well, if the sign wasn't there we couldn't throw stones at it.

In the U.S. there is a store chain called 'Bed, Bath and Beyond'. My wife took this on a recent trip to Upper Michigan. Thought it was a good play on words.
