What Russian logo is this? Photo is from my 1957 Jupiter 3.

Must be a logo of one of the Belarussian optical factories. The MMZ (Minsk) logo is similar- and it has/had many factories under its wing. One of my J-3 has it too.

It is found on this page, about the 8th heading on the page. Unfortunately, I don't know any Russian, and the page is in Cyrillic script. However, when I moved my mouse over the logo, the words "ZOMZ old mark" appeared. Translator needed.

it could be one of the Zagorsk logos, they made the J-3, Zagorsk used another logo that looks like an eye in profile, with an arrow coming out of it.

Apparently, Zagorsk Optical and Mechanical Plant. The ZOMZ website.

This in not MMZ logo. According ot Princelle's book, this logo belongs to OPTEK factory (or plant/workshop). I don't know what was OPTEK and where this plant is (or was) located in Russia.

P.S. I know Russian :p This is one of the version of the ZOMZ (Zagorsk) logo. So, Princelle was wrong? ;)

It is the Zomz-logo. Have a look at Alfred Klomp's Camera page (http://cameras.alfredklomp.com/logos/) page for info on Zomz and the Zenit Logo Page (http://www.zenitcamera.com/qa/qa-logos.html) to find the logo. Now if only that last link was in English instead of Russian...

The phrase next to the logo says "'Skleika' of three lenses," i.e. three lens elements. What I'm puzzling over is what "Skleika" means -- "unit," "cell"? Also puzzling is why it'd appear on a J-3, which has no such grouping.

Skleika means "gluing together".

Hey guys if you want to see a set of lenses ... INCLUDING Jupiter-12 you can give a look at LZOS (Lytkarino) promotional movie... it's a flash file, and you just have to skip to 10'30" in the player. Link here : http://www.lzos.ru/en/movie.htm ;)

yes. first Z stands for Zagorsk, ZOMZ = Zagorsk Optiko-Mechanicheskij (Optico-Mechanical) Zavod (Zavod = factory)

The lenses with the logo with 3 lenses stacked together were produced before 1962 (according to KMZ factory website)

MMZ logo looks similar, but is still different.
