I have a Vorsatzlinse #2 3,5 5cm "Elpik" Does anyone know what this Leitz lens filter fits? The screw in is only 19mm! I have the original box for it as well. It was used by a mining engineer.

I think it is meant for the denter thread in the small Elmars: 50/3,5 collapsible and 35/3.5.
That way you can still use the aperture since it is on the front of these lenses. With the A36 filter the aperture handle is behind the filter.

cheers, Rob.

Rob, It sounds like it would result in a vignette like image if the diameter is of the filter is smaller then that of the lens?

No Jim, it won't. The face of the old Elmars has a ring with aperture numbers etc. An A36 push-on filter fits over, your small filter screws in just around the lens glass surface. Picture by Leicatime (http://www.leicatime.com/Elmar%2050nr1198983front.jpg)
