View Full Version : Suggestion to Voigtlander
I used to own a Voigtlander 50mm/2.5 Color Skopar, which I sold due to its rather soft optical result. Since Voigtlander came up with a PII, it would be great if they come up with a sharper version of the 50mm/2.5. A 50mm/2.5 Color Skopar II perhaps? :D
I would love to see a rangefinder-coupled version of the 25/4 Skopar. Surely if the 21/4 can be RF-coupled, the 25/4 could be...

Peter, what do you like about the idea of a sharper 50/2.5? Its compact size or its low price?

I would like to see them put their own names on the cameras and lenses that they manufacture. I have no problem using my Cosinon and framing the pictures next to the ones taken with Nikon's, Canon's, and Leica's.

I'd like to see them make a modern high tech 6x6. Use modern materials for the bellows, give it TTL metering, AE modes, and either a zoom (say 50 mm to 150 mm at 2.8) or interchangable lenses.
Basically a Super Isolette crossed with the Fuji GA645Zi. that can be used fully manually if the battery is dead.
Not very likely in today's market, alas. OTOH, there is the retro-tech market. And if you made it with a removable back ala the Iskra, it'd be a very easy thing to drop a digital back on it. Heck, I'd be estatic to see one in 35mm if nothing else... :)

Tough combination to find, Peter. The Leica collapsible 50 Elmar-M is probably the closest to what you want - sharp & compact - but it goes for $750. However, you can get it at ACC for $475. And there is one on ebay right now with a starting price of $400 & a "Buy it now" price of $425 with a day and a half to go. Less than $100 more than the 50/2.5 with M-mount adaptor.

Geez, I should have an 11x14 enlargement made of my Juice-Bar Lady to see just how soft or sharp or both is my 2.5/50 Skopar. And then I could hang the pic on my office wall... :D

I have thought about Elmar M 50mm/2.8, but the lens would not collapse completely in a R2. :(
