View Full Version : Can you put "ordinary" 35mm film in this S?

I've read about this "odd" format size. Is there any reason why you couldn't put regular 35mm film in? Would just "steal" an extra shot or two with smaller images?
Would it require any "special" developing?

You use regular 35mm film in the Nikon M and Nikon S; the spacing between the negatives is slightly greater. Standard processing equipment can handle it.
Watch for this one to go fairly high, considering the box. A "boxless" Nikon S with 5cm/1.4 lens in ex to ex+ condition will run under $600.
It uses standard 35mm film. The only difference is the format of the negatives. It took Nikon awhile to realize that their odd 24x32 & 24x34mm formats weren't going to please most photographers. When the Model S2 came out, it was in the standard 24x36mm format.
As Brian posted while I was typing, look for this camera to bring a hefty price!

Thanks Brian,
I figured as much but I have no experience with non-standard 35mm formats.
Wonder how my Nikon 5000D scanner would handle the smaller images?
Yes, it's amazing how a box can drive up a price (and someone should explain this to my better half who keeps wondering why I save "original boxes")! ;)
I don't think I'm really interested but having read about these in Rotolini's book, it was interesting to see one come up on eBay.

My Nikon Coolscan V handles negatives from my Nikon M (same film size as the S) with no problems.
