View Full Version : How is the contest going?
Well,
I see entries in the contest gallery. Looks lik epeople are staying busy. I see some old photos and new photos. I would really like to see more. How many of you are going to participate. I would like to but for obvious reasons cannot. If I could enter the contest, these would be my entries :

Since I am new to Rangefinder cameras, I am currently shooting the most I can so I can possibly find 3 good shots :) I might only be able to submit mine at the end...
Jorge, I would vote on your first photo, like it very much :)
Jorge, I think there will be lots of entries but they will mostly show up much closer to the contest deadline.

nice shots, Jorge.. but I still like the shot of your son on the tractor more
we might need to postpone the contest deadline as Wisconsin has only had 3 days of sunshine in the past 3 weeks.. and that's not an exaggeration
Jorge,
Like the shots, especially number 3, but you'd be disqualified (not street). I plan to participate as soon as I've something worth putting up.
Gid
I am awaiting a bessa R with J-3 :D
then I will shoot my eye out. and see what comes out.
did some shooting in Hamburg this weekend with Fed2 and a collapsible lens with 3200 film in it. Wonder what that will look like.

i'm in, i'm just trying to find something worthy and which has a fighting chance. I tend to shoot a lot more abstracts than street shots, so it will be a challenge for me :)

I like number two of yours but it looks a little wider than a 50mm. The deadline is the end of March isn't it? This is probably when the most will come in.

I am going to participate for sure, but it most likely be pretty close to the deadline before I get my submissions in... Such is the life of a procrastinator. :)
I'm mentoring a 16-year-old who got his first rangefinder (a QL17) the other day and presumably joined here. So I will most likely pass on the contest so that he has a better chance to win.
You know what they say about beginner's luck !

I probably won't put in my entries until the very end. I'll figure out prospective entries, but I really want to give myself all the time I can. Seeing as you can only enter three, it seems to be a good idea.
Also, just like many people here I suppose, this contest is pretty much my only chance to ever own one of these things. There is no way I could afford to buy this for myself. That being the case, it makes me want to work extra hard. :)

I am glad to participate in the contest, but me too I won't put in my entries until the very end, because, maybe my next film contains a better picture than the last one. Although, I more than once think, looking at the few good pictures I have made: maybe these are the last good pictures I will ever have made in my whole life (nightmare).

Sunday I will be on a photo hunt just not sure where I will be going, looking for "street scenes"

i am reconsidering entering the contest, however, should i proceed i think i would wait till the last minute to post my pics.
i know it's doubtful that i would pull a prize winner out of the hat at the last minute but i'd hate to post my 3 and then take that prize winner.

Can't you delete a prior submission and upload a new one? IIRC, I saw someone do that in the gallery.

i had not thought of that but it's like taking a move back in chess.
ok for a fun game but not for the real deal.
but then, it's not my contest...
JORGE...?

My thought too, that's why I just submitted one photo for now.
the 50mm rule is the catch - I barely use one :(

This is very rare to happen to me, so that must be a sign those were gonna be winners :p
when I pick up the camera I take always the cover... but... it happened :bang:
Now I wont win the contest ehehehehe :o

I've taken a few killer pictures in recent times (all with a 50mm lens, of course), but I won't upload them until the last minute. ;)

Guys! Your behaviour reminds me the Ebay auctions: wait until the last seconds before the deadline and then submit photos. :)
Are they giving away 750 of these cameras, or just one?
But I guess we're all winners in the end.....
No-one said sniping wasn't permitted! :p
getting close to the end.

If everyone waits until the very end, the site will crash and your pictures will not make it before the deadline. That is how computers works.
If anything can go wrong, it will. And if it is computerised, it will coldly calculate the worst possible time to go wrong.
Most likely Brian. Most likely :)
Its going well for me, im kinda a late entry but im going good. No one bothered to ever change that thing on the front page that says stand by for info or whatnot about this contest and it was by mistake that I found out that it was almost over.
Either way im really excited to be a part of this contest. Going out and shooting im not thinking about taking photos for the contest since I usualy only do street photography anyway. Good times. The only thing that is reminding me that its a contest is that im shooting with a rangefinder which is rather odd since I no longer own one anymore (sold to mamiya so I can get a leica later) so had to re borrow a friends old zeiss ikon that barely works. Oh for the days when photography was a gentlemans pursuits and manual was the automatic...
needless to say this experience has finally convinced me that I need to slow down, enjoy my photo taking more and worry about quality over quantity, so in a way I feel like ive already won.
