Since we're all in a very nice "donation mode", I decided to double up my "surprise gift" effort towards a more general RFF support action.
i.e. I clicked on the "help run RFF" and sent $21 to the forum.

Anyone else willing to do that?

C'mon.... :) :) :)

I'm broke now! Buying a handful of cameras and donating for one has drained my funds for a while. :(

Good on you. I'm glad someone else has been thinking this and I will follow suit. Think of it as a (very modest) voluntary "subscription" , which I hope a fair few regular RFF users do anyway. :)...back in a sec.....

Done.

Thank you for hosting such a wonderful community Jorge :D

Cool idea - first time I've noticed the link (honest). Just done my bit and worth every penny.

Keep up the good work Jorge.

Maybe :D But nobody is selling a 35 1.4 Asph 'cron cheap

Took me ten minutes to find the link on the home page - maybe I need some new glasses.

Hang on: Big Cheese pays a modest amount for a server rental and puts up this off-the-shelf board application. Then sells advertsing, and calls it 'sponsorship' which easily covers the costs. And now we want to send the guy $21 each?

Thank you Jorge. I like this community but I think it's already 'paying the electricity bill'.

Thank you Joe. And enjoy the new camera and much admiration you have here.

Perhaps this is because there isn't one! Either it is a f/2 'cron, or a f/1.4 'lux! :D

Whether or not your financial analysis is correct (I have no idea) - I don't think there was a need to express it - particularly in the tone you used.

I donate 5% of whatever I get from selling my photo equipment here. It's easier that way for me because I'm reminded that I've received something tangible back for my donation.

The ads here are photography related and unanoying and no threads get deleted for undisclosed reasons. In addition you get a cap for your submission.

This is why the users here donate money so the moderator gets a new camera which is very unlikely for the site with much more anoying ads for ring tones and free iPods which they promise not to show to paying members.

I agree with you, copake_ham. Someone was off base with their remark. If you don't want to donate, don't. Whether anyone makes additonal income (I'm sure much less than minimum wage) is immaterial as long as we feel we're getting our money's worth.

Jon- I wrote and asked Jorge to add the donation link because I wanted to donate a portion of what I got from selling my camera here. I had to convince Joe and Jorge to do so as they were both reluctant to. This was not Jorge's idea.
