Gentlemen...
Ladies....
Stallions of various and sundry ilks....
Herewith, hereby and with numerous other prepositions in tow,
I announce...
The FIRST ANNUAL WORLDWIDE RFF BEER HOIST!!!!!
The idea is simple: all members who choose to participate will hoist a beer at a preapproved time. For example, 1PM Pacific Standard Time; +8 for GMT, +9 for Europe, etc. etc. etc.
All members who participate shall hoist a beer and toast RFF, Backalley's health, Jorge's new life in the desert southwest of the US, etc.
Although wine and other beverages are acceptable, they are not manly drinks like beer, and thou shallt refrain from mentioning such sissy drinks.
(There will be a wine hoist, and perhaps a coffee hoist, if this event is a success)
As a bonus, extra-credit activity, you can snap a picture of yourself hoisting the beer, and post it here as proof of participation. Rigid intelligence proceedures will of course be put in place to verify that you actually hoisted at the preapproved time, and didn't actually cheat.
Who shall join me? (I was thinking about this Sunday, or next weekend...obviously it has to be a time when enough people are awake, and can safely imbibe)

Oh come on, I know many of you like beer, and you like RFF, let's combine the two!

Why not at the exact start of New Year in your own location? That will mean a swirl of beer steadily travelling around the globe - sort of like a photographic Mexican wave.
What do you think?

Talk of beer on a friday afternoon.... I was only toying with the idea of leaving the lab early today... No hope now! Off to be charged an arm & a leg for some Cooper's ale... I guess I shouldn't complain.

Or a "swill" of beer.
I endorse the "local time" alternative. If we all hoist at the same time - some of us are going to be drinking breakfast beer!
Don't know about you - but I haven't done that since college - which was back in the last third of the last century!
How about 8PM local time - pic preferred but optional, post required?
Sounds like fun. Should be on one paraticular day, though.

Oh boy! A chance to have a Pearl Light! I'm in for sure.

I think I have a few Coronas around here. Not my favorite Sam Adams, but whatever. It's either drainage from the gutters in Tiajuana or bottled Boston Harbor water... Eewww:D
You want manly? Try my special protein shake: can of tuna blended with a banana, scoop of cottage cheese, and cup of orange juice. I'll raise a glass of that.

I've participated in the Great Guinness Toast for 5 years in a row. Why not have a RFF toast? Any ideas for something silly to say while we drink?
"May your parallax always be compensated"
"May your lens hood always block the sun"
"May you not be scammed on eBay"
"May the Pad of Death never afflict your GSN"
you get the idea...

I'll start THIS Saturday 1PM-PST (being New Years Eve) and continue till 1AM, New Years Morning !
Darn, now I have to wait 4 more hours ~ ; - )
I am appalled at you guys! Photography, as in life, is a very serious endeavor, and I would never introduce alcohol into it. Just appalling....

Russ,
It's no coincedence that a full pint of Guinness and your eyes are the same color.
:p
Bobofish,
I, for one, unsure of the exact timing of the toast, have chosen to begin now with some lovely Full Sail Pale Ale. In fact, looking across the Columbia now, I believe that is you with a Widmer Hefe! However, I cannot in good conscience toast backalley (joe) until he buys another Canon P from me :D :D :D

Not Tsing Tao beer with the chinese?
Tsingtao, isn't bad. However, I must admit to popping a bottle of Moet Chandon White Star. And as you can see from the attached snap......
