View Full Version : Thank you for a kind year ...
Dear all, it is year-ending and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for a kind year. From May to now, while I don't post much in this site (since it was only in July that I acquired a nice RF setup), I kept reading what these forums have to offer. Suffice to say, you guys have a lot to do with my transition from digital to film and from SLR to RF, specifically Leica. Now, I'm getting more comfortable with RF and I'm almost a fulltime RF shooter!!! (though I kept part of my SLR setup for those occasions when SLR is more appropriate)...
Again, thank you all for the knowledge and sharing spirit  In the new year, I hope I can contribute more to this forum.
Here're a few shots from the 6-months period of RF ownership, one from each lens I own ... the results from lurking too much in these forums ...

Not to hijack this thread, but I also rediscovered RF during 2005 even having my Kiev since 1982.
This site gave me a lot, in terms of information, shared knowledge, beautifull memberīs pictures, and best of all, a new friend.
For all this I have to say Thank You All!!!!!
Have a good 2006!!!

That's a lot of lenses you own!
You have a 50/1.4 ASPH? Wow!
regit, you got some great images in a short amount of time. And as for your lens collection, I can only guess that either you are independently wealthy or you robbed a bank :) Good to see you make such good use of them!

Did you really mean what you said here?
These are really nice shots and display real talent.
The most expensive lens in the world is worthless if all it is used for is to take a picture of the bottom of a shoe!
Who cares how much the gear costs?

Regit - very nice photos. Clearly, I should be lurking less here and taking more photos next year :-)

Some real crackers there.
Excellent pics regit! Its nice to see a broad range of lenses being used too. Keep up the great work and post in the gallery here when you have time!
I also would like to thank the forum, its moderator(s) and the participants for a pleasant and mature atmosphere. After a bit over a year on the pnet Leica forum, I was so sickened by the "personnas" and hostility and rudeness that I was beginning to associate it with Leica and it was turning me off to using them (silly but that's how the human mind works sometimes).

Regit,
I wish you a great 2006 in return!
May the coming year bring you great happiness in photography and life, and may it also bring a teensy bit of same to me...
Cheers!
p.s. I forgot to add, great photos!

Mmm. Very nice work and the one makes me want a Summar... :D
Thank you for sharing these,
William
I echo the sentiment: these are breathtaking images, and I echo YOUR sentiment, too, concerning the fineness of this forum.
I have discovered, I have learned.. and I have laughed out loud more times than I can count.
Thank you all, and Happy New Year!
Thank you all for your kind comments :) May the new year brings great photo opportunities for all :)

Heh, heh.. Neither :) I'm just a prudent saver with only one hobby :)
Who cares how much the gear costs?
Agreed. Some of the best shots I've seen are shot with lens that cost slightly more than a Coke bottle :) To a certain extend, some of the shots can only be taken with a cheap lens... the Helios and Heligon come to mind.
However, regit, next time, besides lenses, we'd like to know the film and location data too! :D
Really great shots. The amusment park ride and grass reeds are my favorites along with (is it your son) child at beach and, of course, that wave splash against the rock.
These look like NE coast (Maine, maybe?) or else Pacific NW.

Please accept my apologies for not providing any details :( I'm actually in Perthm Australia and that probably explains the delay in reply now and then ... Currently, my favourite B&W film is Plus-X, developed in diafine, so most if not all B&W pics were taken with it. As for color, I mostly use E100G and Velvia 50 or 100, occassional, I do use faster speed negative like NPZ and Natura.
I don't have any children yet (I'm still a 31-yr old student!!!), the beagle is closest to what my wife and I are having as part of pre-parental training ;)
In the future, pics will come with details :)

The pictures you posted are wonderful. The all speak to a warnth and kindness that is in your heart that is unmistakeable.
I love the shot of the little girl taken with your 50mm. That is the look I am looking for in a project I'll be doing next spring.
I have been a frequent lurker to this forum and am very delighted at the joy and comradeship to be found here. I think I've found a new home.
Thank you all for making RFF such a great place! My best wishes to all of you for a great, prosperous and successful year in 2006.
