View Full Version : Pic of the week?
Frank, you raise some good points... The guy on the right is probably the "official" photographer of the scene, checking his photos on the cell phone screen to make sure he captured it all just right. :)
Welcome to posting photos, Clarence; will you be using a rangefinder soon?

Hello,
Thanks for the comments, Frank S and Doug. You're both correct regarding the situation in the picture. I had originally planned for a symmetrical triangular composition, but the Japanese lady had quickly moved back when she noticed the other woman posing for the photo. Boyfriend on the right was indeed fiddling with his digital camera. I thought it would be a good shot because her eyes (dead center) were the only ones that connected with the lens. I hadn't expected Boyfriend's jacket to turn out so bright, though. If I had loaded colour transparency film instead, the brilliant colours of her yukata (summer kimono) would help counterract that.
Neither of us was the official photographer, but the society's president saw me with my gear and asked if I could be the photographer at their next event, which is in a club near Leicester Square next Tuesday.
The rangefinder's in the mail, honest! It's an Olympus 35 SP. I first learnt to shoot on a Zorki-4K but I sold it on RFF not too long ago.
Thanks!
Man, Reagan those Industar's give great results. That look you get with these lenses way is more apealing to me then allot of the old leitz lenses. Thanks Jim. Yep, that particular collapsible has pretty much found a home on the L.III.

It's jsut past Wednesday here, so...
Singer-songwriter Andi Neate giggin at our local Borders Sunday-past. The Events Manager at that store doesn't mind me wandering around with a camera or two, and I've yet to find a musician who objects.
Once again, M2, CV 75/2.5, Neopan 1600, Xtol 1+1.
/runs to cross-post to w/nw musicians.
My 2nd Pic of the week. (so I like this thread)

JimG your latest pic makes me feel nervous, like that upper deck is going to come down ker-splat right on top of me... :)
The first scan from the roll involved last week... M2 (aaaaaahhhh) with Summitar and the Efke 50 I got from Thomas-Michael (thanks!) :)
Didn't get a lot - if any - good photos this week I'm afraid :(
Daniel, I love both photos.
Gorgeous portrait, and she's an amazingly beautiful girl.
Great pictures, Danial. Here's mine.

luc tuymans. first living belgian painter to expose at tate modern.
monday morning, interview session at his house (nice place). grumpy but interesting fellow.
Day Dreaming...
Olympus Pen-EE3 / Classic Pan 200
Oscar that is spectacular! What is it? Triple exposure? Reflection of an image in a window?
It's great!
Thanks Jonas ! It's a bus stop ad, with the reflection of the surroundings...
Had the girl been real, the shot would have probably registered camera shake :o
Is that shot for an assignment btw ? You're getting some fantastic light for those portraits.
Daniel, that's an amazing shot of Kvarnby spring thaw... Looks like the torrent is rushing down a city alley...
What's an honorary rf?I think that's the same thing as my "wannabee RF"... a camera clearly not an RF (and perhaps medium-format) but we're hoping people will ignore that for the moment. :)

Must be common to med. format. I have a Zeiss Nettar that has the same tendencies at times.

It was for an interview in the paper.. luc tuymans, the painter, had a really nice house and we were sitting in a room with a huge window facing north.. a lot of soft light coming in which was just lovely to take photographs.

Ok, this was camera(or user) error, but I kinda like it anyway.
I didn't take this picture this week, but in a way it is my picture of the week - I didn't like it at first, but now it kinda grew on me.
technically I'm cheating though, so please forgive me!

My sister-in-law is awfully easy to photograph. This was a quick grab during a visit to the museum a couple of weeks ago (souped and scanned this week, so let's call it this week).

Hey man, nice shot. Don't ypu love that xp2?

Thanks! I went back and forth between cropping myself out of the shot or not, but I think it adds to the perspective and composition this way. Plus, the expression on his face isn't really natural; so it wasn't supposed to look like a candid anyway -- this way it's even more obviously a posed shot for the photographer, and in this instance, I kinda like that.
Maybe I should just stop thinking about it that much? :p
Hey man, nice shot. Don't ypu love that xp2?
I only started using it recently, and it's quite a pain that I can't develop it myself. I do love the results though! Luckily the lab does pretty good 1-hour C41 developing - this shot was going in the paper the day after taking it, so I needed to hurry :)
Nice shots again Daniel! I really like this thread, I wish more people would post pictures here.
I went on a three-day-trip to Lille, in France, this weekend. Some pictures, all taken with the Bessa R + 35mm Skopar + Ilford XP2 again.
My favorite shot is this one: http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/8710/untitled29cm4gh.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
The other three are in the thumbs below. (Going to subscribe one of these days, for now I'm limited to three thumbs per post)

A quick one I took this week of my youngest son. This one is taken with a CV 35/1.2 I bought off Chase (Chaser), I think this one at f1.4.

There seem to be fewer and fewer of us still posting to this thread. That's a shame.
...
Promo for a local band. Despite this being one of my favourites from the shoot, it's not one that they chose. Fair enough, I suppose, since half the band is all bokeh'd out :D

Probably the first colour IR I;ve seen that I really do like. Suits the subject nicely.
Well it is the pic of the week. Love the idea of this thread. 'spose I could cheat but this was the best of this week.
Been playing with my Minox. It's got a rangefinder, that's what the bumps on the chain are for....
On ERA film, in HC-110. Saw this young lady taking a moment.

Weird...."[IMG]" links doesnt seem to work in this thread.
Here's a recent shot with the 40 Nokton on a CLE, a drive-in restaurant window.
not taken with a rangefinder, apologies, but as goodyear says there seem to be less and less people posting to this thread, so I wanted to make a contribution at least...
pentacon six tl, agfa apx 100 in rodinal 1+50.. the first one is a scan from negative with some photoshop levels & curves adjustments, the second one took a whole lotta time in the darkroom to get the print right.. scan from print, unfortunately my scanner didn't pick up te rich tonality of the print and everything looks rather blodgy. oh well...

I had to emulate some noise and contrast with photoshop, but only since I dont have a darkroom to my disposal (develop the film, scan the neg). Zorki-4k, Jupiter-8
This is from taken with my new R2 and cv 28mm 2.8. I was on my way to work when storm clouds rolled in and it hailed. Hail on the beach is really unusual in N.Z

Aha! I can resubscribe now. I'll post one in a bit...
This was also from the first roll with the R2. was quite pleased with it. :)
Glad to get back to this.
Pear tree, IIIf, 90/4 Elmar on Provia 400. I like this lens.
Bob Cools, Antwerp city mayor from 1982 till '94. Great man, lots of stories to tell.
Nikon F4s + 85mm f/2 + XP2, sorry for another non-rangefinder shot. In my defense: I was going to shoot this with the Bessa + Elmar 90, but my Bessa broke down. Bummer.
Been "otherwise occupied" for awhile. Haven't posted in that time.
To open my new gambit I submit the following pic. ... if I can remember how to do it. LOL.

I’m not sure why I like this one, maybe it’s just the coffee.
Thanks for this great thread full of great pictures. For my first contribution to the thread, I'm submitting a picture which I'm really proud of ... it's a very personal judgment, and it is unlikely to be shared by many of you, but sometimes you like some pictures you make even if you're the only one person to like it. Well the first time, I feel like I finally made a decent photo ... I can't explain why.
Leica M2, Summitar, Tri-X (I think I finally found the combo that suits my way of taking pictures).
