I think it takes 36mm screw-ins too - the Zorki 6 manual (http://www.zenit.istra.ru/mans/zorki-6/zorki-6-eng.html) would seem to imply this.

There's no way it can possibly be 36mm screw-in. The clamp-on is 36mm, the same as Leitz but the 34mm Leitz screw-in filter is too big for the I-50. I submit that the screw will be 33mm.

I suspect these will be very rare, possibly unique to the I-50. You may have better luck getting an old 36mm push-on with loose glass system. That is what I used.

Thank you everyone for the quick reply. I think I might be 33mm. I'll let you guys know for sure. I'm gonna look for a 33mm on *bay. Thanks again.

Confirm A36 push on or clamp on, 33mm screw in. 33 is nearly impossible to find, I have a lens hood and a UV both are Heliopan, but I bought them years ago!!!

Thanks John. I think I'll get a 33-37mm step up adapter.

I wouldn't bet on getting a 33mm anything, but if if you have a choice, a 33 > 40.5 wouldn't be a bad idea. The latter is a common size for FSU lenses, and a lot of others.

I found this on *bay. If they had a 33 to 40.5 I'd get that one for sure. I already have a 40.5mm hood and filters.

I' m amazed. I didn't think you would find anything in 33mm.

Ain't eBay just wunnerful??

My Zorki 4K manual says the thread on the I-50 is 35.5mm.
The pushon size for lens shade is 37mm.

Hmmm

Must be a different I-50 from that shown.

Well, I ordered the step up ring adapter (33mm-37mm). I'll keep you guys updated when I get it. I hope it's 33mm.

I think you will be OK. I assume yours is a Z-6, and the I-50 in the picture looks just like the one on my 1961 Z-6, so you can bet your balls it isn't 35.5mm. As I said, the 34mm I use on the Summar is too big.
Good luck and I hope you find some 37s to suit OK.

I have attached an extract from the KMZ archive site which should settle any differences. The 50-2 lens is the much later one with the "flat" front.

A new star in the RF firmament, perhaps...
I always understood the I-50-2 was M42 for Zenit but I have never actually seen one.

Thanks for the post John Robertson. I guess I really can "bet my balls" that it's a 33mm. :p

There are different thread sizes on I-50s. I have 3 of them. The one with serial number 7546831 has a front thread that's a little bit bigger then 34mm TLR thread, 7322816 and 7118056 has a thread size smaller than 34mm.
