View Full Version : X100 metering...gross underexposure?

After updating the firmware to 1.20, my X100 would grossly underexpose frames. If I take a series of three or four shots in the same lighting situation, say 1/60 at f4, a frame would expose at maybe 1/900 (A-priority). I thought it was a firmware problem, but nobody else seemed to have a similar problem after the firmware update.

Then I thought it was an auto-ISO problem, but I'm getting the same metering aberrations without auto selected.

As far as the sticky aperture problem, this seems to be the opposite...under exposing frames instead of overexposing.

Has anyone had or experienced similar problems? Anyone had a meter fail?

David I had a problem with the camera being stuck on 1/4000s and not giving me A priority when set to A. The camera was serviced and then replaced entirely.

Richard, interesting. Was it an intermittent problem, or just constantly stuck on 1/4000? Or did it start out as intermittent and become constant?

I'd send it in to fujifilm. They're very good with repairs.

I just got off the phone with Steve S. in New Jersey. It's the dreaded Sticky Aperture Problem. Apparently it can manifest itself in ways other than just overexposure...it can underexpose too.

I'm sending it to Fuji today, and they are replacing the entire lens mechanism and updating the firmware. I have to say, they were very helpful and quick...kudos to Fuji's camera repair folks and Fujifilm in general.
