View Full Version : VF rubber eyepiece warning!

Just a heads up, make sure your rubber eyepiece is screwed in properly onto your viewfinder. I lost mine on a second day (than found it 2 days later on a sidewalk near my house :eek:).
Some other members of Fuji X Forum lost theirs too, so it looks like it may be a wider problem.

If you do loose it, the eyepiece is exchangeable with the eyepiece from Nikon FM line (tested it on my FM2/Titanium) and according to other member "Frankie" it works also with Zeiss Ikon ZM and R-D1.

Can anyone suggest a replacement considering my problem with it?: I find that it's a. very "rubbery" and thus harder to clean and attracts things like hair and dust. b. the glass is not deep enough, so that the oil from my eyelashes constantly smears on the lens and then I have to continually clean it (see "a"). Is there a similar (i.e. round and smallish) eyepiece out there with a deeper glass and possibly less rubbery frame to replace this with? Thanks!

I drop mine too. But I realised immediately. Screwed it back tight, no more issue.

I've not had problems it but the hood cap is forever falling off. I've lost and found it 3x in a week. Finally had to resort to a cap guard.

The first time, mine fell off but I heard the noise and luckily found it nearby. Second time, no noise and no diopter when I got home. However, Fujifilm UK are sending me a gratis replacement shortly.

Thanks to op for the warning. Checked mine as soon I got it the other day. It was also very secure.

Ps. I do not understand why they did not use the variable diopter eyepiece from the x100.

Loctite blue, not nail polish.

Just be glad that it's not a Hexar AF eyepiece with a -20 diopter (or something) glass in it.

By the way, if you get an F3 (non-HP) eyepiece for this camera (19mm), it comes with a substantial rubber doughnut. You can transfer that doughnut to other F2 and F3 diopters. Works like a charm. I don't think that Fuji believes in Nikon's -1 by default viewfinders, so a -2 actually acts like a -1.
