Argus C3 shot counter

OK I have tried to get my camera to give a proper count of shots but I can never get zero lined up properly any tricks to get this right?

The only thing the instructions say is after going through the film loading sequence, you turn the frame dial counter-clockwise until it is at zero, then start shooting. Of course, if you have loaded a roll that is shorter than 36, say a 24 shot roll, then since it counts down you would set it at 24. But are you having problems with play in the counter? Get a roll of old film, and practice with it many times over until you can tell where to set the start.
