Hi, almost two months ago i purchased an outfit that included a non functional M5 body amongst other stuff.
At first sight the m5 didnīt look as huge as people say but when i put it in my hands and actuated it i could appreciate immediatelly the high capabilities for shooting of such a machine!
Speeds in VF, needles for compensating and a speed dial that doesnīt have any other RF!
Well, the bad news was it was faulty in many aspects...the lightmeter was out, the worst was that somebody had messed with her and put back together in complete disorder...
After sending it to the technician the first good news was the lightmeter coil was ok.
Since this fix wasnīt the current way things go in the workshop i understood fast it was going to be kept in the shelves if i didnīt do somethig, so i visited the technician almost three or more times in a week, being insitent but without being unpatient or boring, very polite....
I could oversee every aspect of the camera and make some work of motivation:D
After almost two months the camera was again working, but for such a tiny circuit it was very stubborn sometimes it worked sometimes it just died on my hands.
the tech was going on vacation from january to march so i had to have back my m5!
So yesterday i could get it, but of course the lightmeter was not properly adjusted, so since all of my visits i could arrange that myself.
Took apart the lower lug and a ilttle plate and accesed to r1 and r2 tracks.
In fact if you do such a work you must do it in a place where low and high lights can be spotted.
The lightmeter must be adjusted for high and low lights, being those tracks for each one of them.
The pattern for such adj. was the vc meter ii set on the hot shoe.
When closing back the circuit housing must be sure not to bite the cables and preventing them from get jammed in the tiny space available...
Also since iīm using a higher voltage battery this tuning served as well to compenstae that 10% higher grade batt.
so now i have back my m5 and also i can adjust the lightmeter myself, when i find a not so good one iīll buy it right away:D
Itīs a great fine cmaera, even my wife found it to be very pretty!
Bye!
