I have to say I was very skeptical about the X100. All that hype, the relatively high price, the hybrid viewfinder. All very suspicious!
Then I saw an ad in a local "for sale list". $800 for a used one. I'm not kidding about the price. For that price I wanted to try it and then sell it for a profit because I won't like it anyway, I thought.
My wife and I had a three week vacation planned anyway, so I took the X100 as a "sidekick" to a D700 and a Rolleiflex.
Our trip took us from Canada to the four corners region, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas etc.
Boy, did I ever appreciate the X100! What a fantastic little camera. Especially in Las Vegas the X100 was a dream. The high ISO performance is great and the camera is so quiet and unobtrusive. While it won't replace my D700, it sure is a great walk around camera.
I was never so glad to be wrong about something...
