Does his owning the lens help or hurt the sale price? ;)
(Pardon the thread, but I was surprised to find this.)

Why would anyone want a certified letter from KR saying he owned it. Does that make a difference?

If you buy it you have to only shoot jpeg.

Only if it knocked 1.5K off the price!
If it wasn't Jackie O or the Queen (or a member of Queen), I don't care. :D
What a fathead...

I have one in silver... and didn't know it was an old version. Did a new one come out already? If so, I'll have to sell mine and offer it as owned by me at some point. It's an important issue that of tracking your gear's pedigree... :)

As valuable as if HCB had owned it. (haha)
If only the auction included a lock of his hair :(
edit: On closer inspection it has a few too many streaks on the lens body from being wiped down with an alcohol soaked microfiber cloth.

Inside the lens.
It's a keepsake isn't it?
You can keep a picture of him in the lenscap too if it means that much.
it's probably got cooties.

I think if it were inside the lens it would be considered a relic ;)

Don't buy it – it probably soaked up his poor judgment.

we have a winner!
ps I think OC camera are just using it as a sales prop - given Ken Rockwell advertises them on his site. favours for friends, etc.

Zing!!! His site is full of great information but his absolutes are disturbing. This camera is the BEST EVER for this, or this camera is Minolta's BEST EVER SLR just because its the one he owns. Does anyone else think an X-700 is better than an XD-5/11?
What I find funniest is that in an article on winning ebay bids, he makes note that he would invariably not buy anything off someone with an ebay feedback of less than 99.8%.
"The few tenths of a percent between 99.9% and 99.6% say everything about a seller, and the items you are likely to receive.
A good feedback rating is 99.8% or above.
A rating of 99.5% or below is horrible!"
The feedback on this particular auction is only 99.7% !! Gotta laugh at that !

I can understand the case for let's say Walt Disney's pencil, or Josh Hamilton's gloves, but this???

Wow. It sounds like someone has begun to believe his own hype.
Man, love the comments. I laughed out loud several times :)
