Fall Colors with the C3

I just wanted to share some pictures that I made with my C3 of the fall colors in Michigan. Took these on my way up to Traverse City, MI (and while there). All except the grapevines were taken with the Sandmar 35mm lens. The grape vines were taken with the 50mm Coated Cintar lens. I used expired Supra 100 film. There were a lot of weird shifts from using such an old film, but all in all, I'm pretty happy with how these shots turned out. Anyhow, enjoy:

Thanks, guys! There's something oddly endearing about my old Argus. I actually find myself picking it up as often as I pick up my Leica. Maybe I'm crazy... :p

Not crazy, just endeared. Like using a Barnack designed Leica, it gets you back to the roots, and reminds one of why you take photos in the first place.

These have a really nice feel to them ... the old colour film and the lens of the Argus have created their own look IMO.

Haha. Thanks for all of the comments, guys. I sometimes feel like I'm something of an ambassador for these old Argus cameras. I love American-made stuff (my dad is a machinist, my father-in-law retired from GM, and I work for a defense/aerospace contract manufacturer). So there's something really cool about owning one of the few American-made cameras and making pictures with it. I'm going to be using some decent/in-date film in the camera next to give the old girl the respect she deserves. ;)

I once did an A/B between a Contax G1 with a 45mm and a C3... the differences were visible but not unless you really stopped to look. The obvious ones were 'vignetting', the image was sharp in the centre but went softer as you moved towards the edge of the image and the colour renditions were just a little more saturated in the Contax. The C3 is actually a decent performer

Supra.. it's a hit or miss film. Sometimes I get mind boggling colour and saturation other times it's like what you got. I have a hard time figuring that film out. I love it when it works. Nothing like it. I think it's not good in low light nor in direct light. I think it likes overcast days where the light is medium bright.

Thanks for reminding me that I shouldn't sell mine (but probably will anyway, as we're moving). These cameras have a lens that works w/ color very nicely, as your photos demonstrate.
