Who Else Is In Love With Plus-X?

Plus-X seems to be the forgotten classic film. I'm stumped as to why.

Beautiful tonality, rivalling Pan-F and Panotomix-x with workable speed. Fine grained, while giving enough to give the classic look without overwhelming the image as Tri-X IMHO often does.

Any thoughts why nobody seems to use it?

I like Plus-X.
In 120 format it has virtually no grain without making the image looks static.

I like to develop it in Rodinal, what do you use?

It's slow and at the same time not nearly as fine grained as Acros, T-Max 100 or Delta 100. Beautiful tonality however, and very tolerant to a variety of developers. I shot maybe a dozen rolls of it this summer.

Well it is apparently discontinued, so not much point in investigating it a whole lot if you've never used it before. Used to be my favorite film- in both 35 and sheet formats. Usurped by FP4+ about eight or ten years ago.

Its a film I never tried, but was tempted to. I am becoming less film fussy every day and have a number of 'stand by films' just in case. I think the reason why plus-x bit the dust is the long toe and 'studio suited' curve.

Really? I thought it's still marketed in 35mm.
FP4+ is not a bad alternative, though.

I accidentally got onto it when I bought a bulk loader with half a roll of it in there...
I love it!!!
Sadly it's all used up now and I've got some Delta 400 in the loader because I got a roll cheap just out of date.
Acros has gotta be my fave though...

I stand develop everything in Rodinal at 1:100. Doest matter what it is, from pan-f to tri-x, it all goes into the same 8 reel tank.

The word over on apug was that it was done. And if done in 120 and sheet sizes I;d expect it is not long for this world in 35. There is TMAX 100 for that need. Just like TMAX 100 covers the Panatomic-X need.

Plus x is one of my favorites.

I'm amazed they still make it, when newer films have fallen by the wayside. I found it to be sharp but very grainy compared to later films.
