So I was given a Canon PIXMA Pro 9000 printer with ink from a neighbor. Today I would like to get it printing and have installed the Canon Easy-Photo Print EX Software from the Canon website.
When I attempt to use the software, it tells me that a printer is not installed so I cannot print. How do I "install" my printer? Is this a driver that I need to download? I have downloaded the Pixma 9000 driver for my specific OS-X version, but it did not do anything.
Thanks for the help!

If you're using Snow Leopard, it no longer has Rosetta, so the drivers might not work anymore.

You're probably out of luck unless you put it on a Windows machine or roll back your OS X version.

On the other hand, did you download and install both the drivers and the software? It might be Snow Leopard compatible.

I am not sure what Snow Leopard is... My OS X version is 10.5.8

Did you install both the DRIVERS and the software, then?

You don't have Snow Leopard so you don't have to worry about it.

If you download the drivers, they don't just sit on your hard drive, you have to install them.

10.5.x is Leopard. Snow Leopard is 10.6.x

Apple really dropping the ball, specially with QuickTime.

I meant Lion, Snow Leopard still has Rosetta. But he doesn't have either version so it doesn't matter.

I did indeed install both the software and driver. I am not completely comp-illiterate. ;)
The printer is listed in System Preferences, Printers. Still wont work...
It allows me to select the image that I want to print but when it comes to step #2 (Selecting Paper), it stops me with a "The operation cannot be continued because a printer supporting Photo Print is not installed"...
Do I need a different version of the software perhaps?

So I gave up with the Canon software and tried using Photoshop Elements. Now it is getting somewhere (as in communicating with the printer), but the NEW error message to deal with is "Printing was stopped because the width of the paper that was loaded is shorter than than the specified size"... I loaded A3 (11x17) and selected A3. What the f....

It also says that I have a non-post script printer, so it will not be able to do things like calibration, interpolation, etc.... what do all these mean?
I think I have had enough of digital printing before I have even started...

Okay, I got something to print but it is basically all green. No blacks or whites... I am printing BW.

I am putting it on craiglist...

The frustrating part of this is that the printer only works when I select a different size paper than I have loaded, but when I select the proper size, it THEN tells me that I have loaded the incorrect paper.
Man!

I don't mean to be rude, but did you talk to canon support? Also, reinstalling the printer often solves problems. Wont solve dried printer heads tough, but some warm water might just do the trick there.

I did try Canon Support. They told me that I am doing everything correctly. I will try reinstalling.
I am also the most impatient person with electronics.

It seems to only work with A3+ size paper (13x19). Whatever.
The shadows come out with a green tint still. The black ink is basically full so other than replacing it, I don't know what else to do... any tips?
Thanks.
