I've decided to shoot in RAW for the X100, though the jpegs out of camera are nice.

I shot this one of my daughters, and I was really surprised at the depth of the image. It really doesn't shoot like a p&s camera...it shoots like my Leica did (heresy, I know).

F2, 1/450, ISO 200, Nik ColorEfex Pro for finishing:

A really lovely image David.

I have two sons probably about the same age as your daughters. Getting them to stay still, together, for a poignant moment is... impossible. Consequently most of my shots of them feature motion blur in legs and arms if not also torsos. Ah well, it's a style.

I am also very impressed with what my X100 is capable of delivering. Before acquiring one I was mostly shooting 6x6 film, but have been shooting far less (film or whatever) than I'd like to be doing at this point of my life. The X100 has changed all that.

LOL... I have a three year old and a five year old and have the same challenge! Indeed, it is a style, one most parents will understand.

My son started kindergarten yesterday and I captured some great shots with the X100. It was definitely a well photographed event by all of the parents!

And yes, David, fantastic image of your kids! Looks like a young photographer to follow in your footsteps. My son shoots film, albeit the Fuji Instax kind.

Thanks guys for looking. My older daughter is enjoying my Oly 35RD, and helps out when I develop Tri-X...pretty cool. My youngest...she prefers digital :D

That X100 is something. I've been personally waiting for something like this since I got my first dSLR...a Nikon D100, back in the day.

Very nice. The smooth to sharp is lovely. Very creamy OOF areas.

Lovely pic ... I'm having a little trouble justifying the existence of my D700! :D

Probably the best sensor of any compact camera on the market at the moment!

I'm glad I bought mine yesterday, looking forward to share some pics from mine around here. My parents will pick it up for me and then go to Berlin, where my dad is running the marathon. It will be also a good oportunity to get a feedback from a somewhat educated user (my dad used to shoot with a Canon A-1 and knew what he was doing, but lately only has been shooting cybershots and more recently a G10) and a total noob (mom!). ;)

Just another shot in the backyard to add fuel to the X100 fire :D
